Lots of stuff and two pics (cool pics tho)
Casters in WoW generally use more buttons than non casters. And, depending on your gameplay, you would have more or less bars up as needed. I run with all my bars up (druid), but thats a personal preferance. You also are generally not clicking all of your buttons in any one combat :). There is no cookie cutter method of playing, and, if there is, you're a dumb fuck for following it. Play the game as you want, rather than what the community wants, and you have alot more fun.

@the second pic... That just plain baffles me, honestly lol. At least he was smart enough to get mice he doesn't have to move!

OP: Personally, I love WoW. Have been playing since launch. I don't let it absorb me fully ( I do have two children and I work lol), but I do end game raid. I was sucked into the story in WC3 and when WoW came out I was dragged kicking and screaming from EQ1 to it. I hated leaving my beastlord, but I now have no regrets.

And at the person complaining about grinding on maggots in the undead village... what, you never ground on fire beetles and rats? Spare me. The snakes will still kick you, wahhh.

It's simpler than it looks. Trust me.
When a company makes a mouse specially for a game to make it simpler, I stay away from that game.

Hee. I have that mouse :) And if it's not your cup of tea, it's not your cup of tea! I have a buddy who plays Aion.. and I think it looks like utter crap... but he doesn't rag on WoW and I don't poke fun at Aion.

...god I love that mouse /strokes it.

I got the trial, and generally found the game, repetitive and monotonous, I played a tauren shaman and most of the time spent was wondering why people would pay so much money watching their character kill the same thing over and over again.

Its good for a while, but there are always people who just want to annoy you, and somoe of the areas are 'meh'.

That and end game content isn't fun after the 4th run... too much babying

It refuses to move along with the times, the unit interface is archaic at best, and it hampers competing MMO's because they feel compelled to emulate its broken-ness in order to appeal to the WOW fans, who would rather play WOW any way.

I plan never to play wow simply because MMORPG's are, as a whole, bad.

They are boring, and they further my learning in no way at all. And they cost money. So i flat out don't play them. I used to play them a lot, but one day i realised that i was playing a game and NOT having fun, and that there was something inherently wrong about that by itself.

Maybe they'll release a non-bad MMOFPS or something, but i live in australia so when they do i still won't be able to play it.

The main reason I don't play any MMO, even free ones like Guild Wars, is because I absolutely NEED to be able to pause. If I need to tear myself away in a hurry, I don't want to abandon my character in a place/state where death is likely/inevitable. It was this very problem that ultimately made me trade in Sacred 2: Fallen Angel...

I wasn't "hating on" the graphics but calling it realistic, when it looks like loony tunes is a little wrong. I also prefer realistic looking games in general, like I haven't played borderlands 'cos I don't like the graphics (I know I am probably deriving myself of a great game).

It's a cool looking mouse, I was going to get it but I thought "I will never use that many buttons", so I got the diamond back instead.

in all honesty as a game there is nothing wrong with it, its the single most popular MMO game out there and it will probably keep that title for a while. It's success has just made it a target for people who don't like it to drag on it...its super addictive and thats what makes a game a good game for the makers of the game and for the people who play it. If there was anything wrong with the game do you think 11 million people would be playing it everyday?! no people... just face the facts! FACTS!

ps: i do not play it FYI

I don't hate it, personally. I tried the free trial version, and it was okay. But that in itself is the problem. It is merely okay. It didn't really do anything wrong, but it didn't have anything that wowwed me, somewhat ironically. For a monthly subscription fee, I need more than an okay game. If it was a one-time cost thing like non-MMO games, it would probably be a part of my library.

I beg to differ. Value should be considered an internal quality of a game. If money is no object in internal quality, then spot the unemployed leech who probably has his parents buying the game for him!

Firstoff I must say WEAK in response to you not playing on a real server.

I played WOW for 2 years and the evaporation of life was a rather large problem.
My family fell apart around me as I leveled and farmed the shit out of everything.

Other than that though i like monotony of knowing what is going to go down i guess

World of Warcraft just isn't a fun game. There is enjoyment to be had, but that's from the socialization - a quality a don't attribute to the game itself. I enjoyed the occasional PvP venture and riding around with friends, but the lack of depth to the gameplay turned me off. I realized that, at least online, I prefer games where skill > time invested.

People hate everything that is popular, mostly. As far as MMOs go, this is one of the best you'll get if you're looking for a classic MMORPG. Grindy, but not too grindy, lots of people, huge community, challenging raid encounters, and Blizzard keep everything as balanced as possible (Even though keeping every class balanced is impossible, Blizzard is generally good about it).

As an "classic" MMORPG, this is probably as good as it will ever get, and if you like MMOs, you'll probably like this.

I hate it because I never see my buddy anymore since he got it.

It is deliberately designed to be addictive and exploitative of peoples' obsessive, compulsive nature and it sucks peoples souls out through their eyeballs in a way no other game/MMO does.
see, i've lost many a friend to WoW as well. they started playing it, haven't spoken to them since High School graduation. that was the last time we hung out because all they do is play WoW. they don't work, they don't hang out with people, only play WoW. now, i'm not a Blizzard hater, i love Diablo and Diablo 2 and am looking forward to Diablo 3, but that's the extent of my liking for Blizzard. ((i don't care if you crucify me for not being a fan of StarCraft))

my point is, Blizzard made that game to syphen ((however you spell it)) money out of the world. i'm not saying Microshaft didn't do it with Xbox Live, but at least their system is better. WoW is what..$15 a month? and all you can do is play the game with that. Xbox Live you can pay $50 and get 13 months of online play, DLC, and many many other features. WoW is just "let's go raid, lets go gold farm, lets go level up" it's the same as Tibia or RuneScape in my eyes. i have played all of them, and not a single one differs from the others other than graphics, quest types, and characters. even then, most quests are "run around talking to people" or "go find these 3 items for me and run around for 12 hours finding them" or "go kill 3 sheep and come back with the wool"

i've lost friends to that. that's bullcrap. i can see how people would get drawn in to MMORPG's, but not just an MMOG. WoW is more of a MMOG. Diablo is an MMORPG. Diablo has a story. WoW has PIECES of a story. i'm sorry, but when i play a game to go and find out why we need to kill the big bad final boss, i like more reason than "because he's there" or "because i gave you the quest to" Diablo is "he has risen from hell to enslave the world as his minions, and has raised demons to do his bidding. we need to save the world!" WoW is just "umm..so there's this bad guy..the Lich King..he needs to die like, right now, or more people will die. but..before i can give you the quest to go find the weapon to kill him..you need to bring me back, 5 pieces of lumber, 3 pieces of wood, and some strawberry milk for all my hard work of sending you out"

THIS is what's wrong with WoW. it is NOT and MMORPG as Blizzard claims it to be. it's a crappy MMOG that needs to be shut down, so people actually see the light of day, or even the dark of the night depending on sleep schedules. ((gotta cover all my bases)) it heavily affects social life from what i've seen. i don't have a social life because i work for a living. i have to pay rent, buy gas, pay for car insurance. you know..adult stuff. other people my age are doing nothing but living in a house rent free, don't have to pay for insurance, don't have to pay for gas, and do nothing but play WoW for a living.

i hope this was eye-opening. because it brought back all my hate for the game, and for half of Blizzard...friggen WoW.

the PLUS side to all of this..i is was able to make one or two friends see why WoW is so crappy.

Well I'm not a fan of playing with lots of other humans, especially when the majority of them are rude, selfish bastards. The game is now filled with stupid shit such as players who don't play, they just stand around shouting out rude insults or stand naked in front of the bank and stuff.

Also, I'm not a fan of click and wait games, hence why I only played it as a mage. The game wasn't all bad though, I liked the big terrain.

What was worse was when those REALLY high levels came to the low level areas where they were automatically hostile, thus leading to your death in seconds and hampering your progress to.. ya know.. have fun. I reckon there should be a level difference that stops that from happening.

Now I know graphics and such are irrelevent for mmorpgs, and I'm not a graphics whore but c'mon, it looks like it was made for 6 year olds.

Quests where one of the WORST things in that game. Get this. Deliever this. Be my *****. Etc. For eg: when you had to get 10 of something from animals, say for eg: teeth. You would kill them... but apparently they already had all their teeth taken out.

Anywho, those are my real issues with the game. The rest was just bugs.

Oh, and the game just got expensive. Blizzard, you tards are quadilloinaires. Lower the price ffs.

It's incredibly, incredibly boring.

....not a single thing in it, the community, the mechanics, the art design, or the backstory managed to engage me in the slightest.
The back story? Have you played Warcraft games? [Specifically Warcraft 3] because the story is developed there and I really enjoy it but I've noticed it's badly presented in WoW.
