I was thinking back on an old episode of The Simpsons and I started to wonder what shows' episodes made you rather emotional for whatever reason.

There's one old Simpsons episode I still can't watch without crying, the one where Bart and Lisa become rivals in hockey. That entire flashback sequence at the end, I don't know why it gets to me, but it's just so sweet and adorable. Also I turn incredibly upset when a whole ice cream cone falls on the ground, call it my childish side...god my eyes get moist even typing about it.

Let's leave movies out of this because we're dealing with shows with MANY episodes (or not), so I'm curious.

Not much makes me cry in tv shows, I keep a level off separation I honestly wish I could shed to further enjoy sequences like the one you just described. That being said, that scene from Futurama about Fry's dog where it waits loyally for him until his dying breath is a bit of a tearjerker.

Yeah...pretty much the only moment for me, right there. There's not a whole lot of television that motivates me like that. Plenty of games, books, and animated shows that I don't watch on TV, but not a whole lot of television.

If I blurred the line slightly, I'd probably break down and admit that <color=white>Genkai's death in Yu Yu Hakusho got me a little teary-eyed.

Clannad has brought me closest to tears, as in physically fighting them back.

Nothing else has really brought about that reaction in me.

Yeah, Futurama is the only show to make me shed a tear while watching a show or a movie. I cried there and during the end of my favorite episode Luck of the Fryish. That is the one where we learn about Fry's 7-leaf clover.

The only episode of a tv show to do this was that episode of futurama (And don't pretend you don't know which episode I'm talking about!).

I suppose one that made me feel sadness yet not to the point where I began to cry were all the episodes following and including when Rimmer left on Red Dwarf, he was a great character and while Kochansky was pretty good it just didn't feel like red Dwarf when it didn't have Rimmer.

Part 2 of an episode where the Predacons are attempting to prevent the evolution of Man by destroying all of the primates in a valley that apparently are the only primates in the entire fucking planet that becomes humanity. Dinobot scouts this out wondering wtf Megatron is up to and calls back to the Maximals to inform them that shit's about to go down and waiting is a very, very bad idea. At which point he jumps into the valley and proceeds to singlehandedly plow the entire Predacon force. Which was pretty bad ass to watch when you're thirteen years old. By the time he gets to Megatron himself, Dinobot has been fucked up beyond repair (literally) and cracks the bastard upside the head with a stick (Yeah, a stick. It was awesome. He was too wrecked to shoot Megatron so he used a stick, jammed a sharp rock on it and cracked him upside the head). He takes this disc that Megatron's been using to determine the past and fuck with things so that he can fix the future the way he wants it to go, charges up one last laser eye and shrieks really loud blowing the thing to pieces. Cue five minute melodramatic dialogue with the "dark knight" character breathing his last and being mourned by his comrades. Most of all being the only other transformer on the fucking planet that fought with him more than the enemy (of course).

Also the ending of the Pokemon episode "Bye Bye Butterfree" I still for the life of me cannot fucking understand why this upsets me so. I know exactly why it's happening and that it's good for the Butterfree and all but I'm still trying my damnedest not to just bawl my eyes out.

Wolf's Rain is the most emotive series I have ever watched, very beautiful and sad, especially towards the end. The rurouni kenshin ovas made me cry, the poor guy has such a tragic past and brutal future. Another heart breaker for me were the last ten episodes of full moon wo sagashite, the entire show is generally pretty happy and then it such a sad ending.

The Doctor Who specials finale got me pretty damn misty-eyed. Same for the second season finale. Damn Tennant and his awesome acting... *sniff*

Well, whilst I've never actually cried, due to being afflicted with the emotionally crippling disorder of being male, there are a couple of moments that made me come close, Like Scrubs: My Finale, or the episode with the rabies donor.

Other standouts are Futurama, most notably the Devil's hands episode, or Transformers Armada, when Starscream sacrificed himself.

Mrs. Landingham's death in the West Wing. I still cry when I see that episode and the one following it.
The last episode of MST3K. Damn you SciFi channel!

I think you are going to get a lot of people quoting this, Futurama is almost universally loved by the Escapist... of course I absolutely agree.

I think the series final of the second episode of the new Doctor Who (with the Daleks and the Cybermen) made me cry a bit, but I can't remember when.

I just watched the last episode of HBO miniseries "The Pacific" and thought it pretty flat for the most part and not a great finale. And then at the end they put up pictures of the actors in costume and then faded to period images of the people that they played (with a little bio attached) and I just lost it.

Jurassic Bark. Damn you, Futurama. Damn you.
When Fraiser died and when the Asgard committed mass suicide. I got pretty emotional then.
