Just was thinking about how digital distribution is getting larger these days, and was just thinking to myself how many escapists use it.

Was also wondering what type of games escapists go for when downloading? Maybe just use it for arcade/indie games, or for full games?

In my case, I'd say around 75% of my games library consists of original hard copy games (cartridge/disc), with 10% being fully downloaded games (mainly thanks to steam), and the other 15% being Live Arcade/Indie/PSN games.

What about you lot? Do you prefer hard copies? Or downloads? (legal ones by the way)

Edit: OK Maybe I didn't have to specify to read the 1st post. XD

I downloaded Left 4 Dead. A moderate mistake as I never play it.
I downloaded Prinny CIRBTH and Disgaea 2 on the PSPgo. Worth it.

Everything else I own hard copies of. I love them boxes...

All but 1 of my PS3 games are hard copies, I think console games deserve the disk space really. Especially with some models of the PS3's have a small HDD.

Recently Steam has been taking over my PC collection, a long list (17) is piling up on both installed and uninstalled games, the last hard copy pc game I brought was Empire: Total War, before that they all were, it's much easier getting PC games offline.

I only really get mainstream hard copies, having an awful computer and no consoles but a Wii.

And you don't really need to tell us to read the OP. We do that naturally.
I suppose... just wanted to avoid people confusing this for a "what console do you buy most games for?" thread.

You don't need to tell us to read the OP >_>

I have about 8-9 games bought off of STEAM.

Most of them how ever are hard copies.

Mainly hard copies, as I myself am a console gamer.

I have quite a few steam games, and have downloaded a few XBL games, but it's still 90% hard copies.

Well, yeah but it's even more important for this otherwise it will just become a mixture of "don't make vs. threads" and "flame sheild up".

I have only 1 downloaded game, and that is Echochrome. Only because my mom wanted me to get it and it was a PSN Exclusive. The only games I want to download are Assasin's Creed: Bloodlines and Tetris. AC:B because it's really the only way I'd be able to get it on my own and Tetris because it's on PSN and...oh come on, it's TETRIS!!! How can it not be loved?

Otherwise I will try to go only with hard copies. If I can't find it in stores I'll go to Amazon or Ebay.

The legal hard copies...gotta love the shiny cases. I do have a few XBLA arcade games like TRON,Smash TV and others but i paid for the point cards to get those as well.

I usually go for hard copies, it feels better having something physical from a purchase as opposed to digital copies.

My library consists of at least 95% hard copies. And I don't think that will ever change, even with the prediction of a future with digitally distributed content only.

People want something consistent in their hands when they're making a purchase. And I happen to be one of them.

Hard copies for everything, except Portal. That one, I downloaded through Steam.

If we only count PC,the digital distribution market takes the cake.
But if we count all my games. The hard copies win with a 3/1 difference.

Pretty much everything from the last three years has been bought on STEAM, before that hard copy only.

The trouble is now, buying a hard copy of new pc releases yields no advantage whatsoever, in fact it puts you at a disadvantage if someone's nicked the CD key from the box (as disovered to my great cost with BF2142, that I had the disc and the receipt and the now useless CD key card was of no consequence to EA, if I was going to play the damn game I was going to have to buy it again, funnily enough BF2142 is the last EA game I went out and bought). Physical releases come with so muc hdrm and other crap now that it's counter productiove to buy them, much easier just to download it and burn a fully updated back up copy to DVD.
