So... that Wii isn't coming anytime soon so I emulated Zelda 1, 2, 3 and Ocarina of Time. Because I played them and liked them, I've made it my personal mission to buy a 2006 Wii and give Nintendo my money as long as I'm using the Wii classic controller. I'm also really shit at Zelda. Which is partly my fault for emulating it with a clunky ass keyboard but at the same time, I'm bad at the action adventure genre and just got my first taste of a NES game a week ago so I'm new to the difficulty and the mentality of explore this shit. After I finish Ocarina of Time and look up a walkthrough on the original Zelda, I'll be playing Chrono Trigger, but I'm buying that shit because playing that on a emulator was bullshit!

Every strategy game ever. I am probably one of the worst strategists ever, yet I own over twenty strategy games and I play them all frequently.

Y'know, I don't think I've ever been like that with a game.

If I love a game, I'll pretty much always end up playing it enough that I at least become okay at it.

CoD. I always have an awful KD when the newest game comes out but I still love playing it, for those rare matches where I kick arse! My KDs are actually getting better over time so maybe by the time CoD 100 comes out in a few years I'll actually have an even one.

I tended to be mediocre-at-best at RTS, and yet absolutely loved AoE2 and AoM, and spent ages on the latter.

WoW. Been playing for years, still a complete noob XD

In fairness, I'm perfectly happy just to explore and I love following stories and questlines, chasing achievements, all that sort of thing, so it doesn't matter all that much.

Also, I frequently have to take breaks from it for months at a time for things like university (I find it better to cut it out altogether, as I'm a terrible procrastinator at the best of times), so there's that.

Fighting games(mainly Mortal Kombat). I love the characters, well in games that don't only involve humans, but I am absolutely terrible at fighting games. I can't perform a true combo to save my life. I just don't have the reflexes or the memory...or the controller. Seriously that god damn 360 D pad! >.<

Most fighting games.

I love playing them with friends but I've never been great at them.
If all else fails, resort to button bashing.

Found an old gem recently, was very reminded of exactly this. Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land, absolutely fantastic game. It is just that I am utterly horrible at platformers. I blame me being left-handed, I have poor reaction times for my right hand and am utterly incapable of button mashing. A certain part in Zelda: Oracle of Seasons is impossible for me due to this very reason...

A lot of fighters mainly Arcs games and SNKs output im pretty good at the SC games and DOA still and im ok at street fighter 2. Trouble is I just dont get time to practice and as such I dont reach the level I know I am capable of I know im doing stupid shit that I would never do before and it annoys me although some of it was and is definitely down to changing from a pad to a hitbox (also tried stick).

Im not bad as such (depending on your viewpoint) but I am worse in my fundamentals than I was back in the day although my technical knowledge has increased however I am pretty terrible at the genre now considering how much I love it basically if its not DOA, SC or SF2 im not that good and yes there would be many who would probably say I suck at these as well but I am definitely more confident in the above 3 game series.

BlazBlue. Hold on though, it's not because i'm bad it's because everyone else is too good. No really, come back i'm being serious

I got into BlazBlue way late and almost all the people online were really good and there was no way for me to get anything out of those matches. Tell me you learn from all your losses after getting locked into a corner for two matches straight and dying instantly every time.

I know I would have been way better if I was learning with everyone else at launch, maybe my Makoto would be worth something and my Mu-12 would be God Tier.

Maybe DOTA 2 but it would be a huge stretch to say I love that game. I'd say I find it somewhat enjoyable at times but only because i'm not so invested in doing super duper well. Basically I instalock Antimage, Vengeful Spirit, Phantom Assassin or occasionally Death Prophet and go wherever. I also have a nasty habit of roleplaying Antimage mid match too.

"TRUTH COMPELS ME! BLASTED MAGICS! SILENCER? MORE LIKE, DEAD LOL! MAGIC SUCKS." And so on.

Though irony came back and destroyed me my last match. I died once because I didn't have the mana to blink away... How do you like it Antimage? Not very FUN is it?

Fuck it, i'm playing Antimage right now. I'm in the mood for some serious fun burning after talking about him.

Civilization. I wasn't half bad at Civ 4 but never reached the higher difficulty levels. Civ 5 is a bit of a disaster.

Starcraft 2. I've been playing it a lot lately and I'm a bit sad to see that I'm not really improving. I keep hovering around bronze-silver and even if I read up on strategies and practice them it doesn't quite work.

I guess I could also cite WoW, though I've never been that interested in both raiding and serious PvP and there are many other things to do in the game.

Basically every fighting game I own, Street Fighter 4, MVC3, Tekken 6.
I'm kinda to fighting games what the fat drunk guy at the bar is to Football.
Namely the British variety of that fan anyway.

FPS games. I've played plenty of FPS games with both gamepads and KB/M setups, and I've never been anything better than mediocre. And yet, I still like a lot of First-person shooter games, especially those with map editors and stuff. I always get some good mileage out of those.

Almost every game that uses the phrase 'Roguelike' in its descriptors. The designs are so interesting, and the gameplay addictive but lord almighty can the mechanics be hard

Persona 4 Arena. I love the game but it's the first fighting game I have ever owned/played seriously aside from Super Smash Bros and PS Allstars. I've gotten to a point where I know the moves of my favorite characters and are somewhat competent with them (at least against the AI). My net is too shit to play online unless I like waiting five-ten minutes for a two minute game, so I don't play against other people. AI battles are still fun though (although Narukami can go die, seriously -.-).
