Dragon Age Origins. The game took forever to suck me in past the origin parts, but after I got to the Magi Tower, things picked up. Unfortunately, after I left, it slowed down to yet another game-ending crawl.

Oblivion was another. I played through the main quest and did the Dark Brotherhood ones, and then I said "Well, that was fun." and gave up on it.
Until I discovered MODS!

Also, WoW. After 6 years of being off, the Cataclysm has grabbed me by the short and curlies, and said "Your gonna play with us... Forever and ever..."

For some reason, GTA San Andreas. This was a bit strange since I'd enjoyed GTA Vice City a lot and the two games are very similar. I suspect it was the amount of tutorials, which made it seem boring. Once I picked it up again I found it enjoyable and played it through to completion.

GTA 4 is yet to be completed but for that I'm waiting for the day when I get a decent framerate. Actually, several games have fitted into that category. Morrowind and Oblivion were both purchased long before I got a computer that could do them justice.

Diablo came as part of a bundle which I had bought to get my hands on Starcraft. I didn't think much of it at first, but I brought a whole bunch of games to a friends house and they went "cool you have Diablo" so I gave it another look and got rather addicted.

Looking back a long way, Rainbow Islands. Seemed like just another cutesy platform game, but has a lot of depth and is rather tricky. I've been playing it on and off for ages but never got very far. But it is addictive and fun.

Maple Story. My cousin showed it to me 6 years ago, didn't think much. Started playing it when I got to university, and got hooked.

What is Maple Story anyway? I've heard quite a few people talk about it but I have no idea what it is.

OT: Kingdom Hearts 2 and GTA4 for the same reasons. Boring. Fucking. Long. Tutorial level but really fun after that. There's something else too but I can't remember it off the top of my head.

Fallout 2.

Twenty minutes in - 'This temple part sucks. So does this village.'
Forty minutes in - 'This village sucks. Go to the Den? Well, okay.'
An hour in - 'I'm offering to help in a gang war? I can sell Sulik into slavery? Was that a car?! Awesome!'
Two hours in - 'Fuck you, Lynette.'
Six hours in - 'I'm a made man! I'm a deputy! I'm a porn star! I have a car!'
??? time in - 'Taste gauss, bitches!'

Far Cry. I just didn't like the first mission, but I pushed on and I loved it even with it's own flaws.

Maple Story, a treadmill MMORPG, just kill monsters to gain experience and level up. There was only 3 bosses when I played, and very few people organized boss runs, so very little incentive to level up other than see your damage increase by a few hundred points. Takes ages to level up, and if you die, you lose 10% of your experience points, which can be very costly at higher levels.

Speaking of Kingdom Hearts, I felt the same way, how the tutorial treated you like a retard, and I hate games which don't let you skip cutscenes.

Bioshock actually .__.' I used to think it was really stupid based on all the stuff I had seen about it, but I decided to try after my bro bought it. I was pretty lost at first but I started to get it and fell in love. Its one of my favorite games of all time now.

FF12 fits that pretty well. I don't know why I continued playing, but somewhere along the line, I started having fun.

FF10, I hated the way the protagonist ran, and gave up playing it after 5 minutes. I picked it up again a few months ago and found I actually could stomach the cloying, melodramatic storyline and character far better than I could playing FF13.

Minecraft, I had went in blind and had no idea what to do. I was wandering punching things for an hour.

I got bored, and shut it off.

Consulted a friend and Wikipedia about crafting.

Queue 12 hours straight of mining and crafting.

Half-Life 2.

I got the Orange Box(Xbox 360) primarily for portal, and I figured I would give this game that everyone raved about so much a try. After about an hour, I had run around throwing cans at a weird looking guy, and run around doing basically nothing interesting. However, after you go along the beach and take control of the Ant-lions, I began to enjoy the hell out of it.
