At the moment I'd prefer to use Master Kota from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed as the afforementioned punch bag, that blind pathetic useless drunken ragdoll! 1st he get's his arse kicked, eyes burned out and thrown into narr shadda from the upper atmosphere by Vaders Apprentice, choked and tossed around by Darth Vader himself and zapped by the Emperor and he has the gall to think he can teach me more about the Force! What, you mean how to get your arse kicked thrown choked zapped sliced and diced? Yes, you've certainly mastered that, twat!

This makes me feel all the more grateful that your force powers DON'T get downgraded in this way.

Id like to beat every affeminate JRPG character posing as a male, then force them to cut their hair and grow some balls. Or maybe im just having a bad day, oh well gets the aggression out.
Agreed... or Sonic. How long's it been since he had a good game, like 10-ish years (the Bioware one doesn't count)

That goddamned, egomaniacal, ass zit known as Porky from the Earthbound series.

All he does is mock you whenever you cross paths. Not to mention his overwhelming smugness that could rival any Hybrid owner.

Matt from Lethal skies 2. If you're going to make a stereotypical energetic male character who wont shut up, A) At the very least hire a decent voice actor, and B) Don't have the character Proclaim "I shot down a bogey!" every time he downs a plane.

M. Bison from SFII Turbo for being incredibly cheap in the final level.
On that note: Zangief is such an annoying bastard, it makes my eyes bleed with RAGE BRLAARRGH

Also, what's the deal with all computer opponents playing characters with charge-up attacks but somehow manage to pull them without holding back or down for two seconds? Blanka is a ball of rolling death without the charge time. Liek what the hell rite?

I've not played this game, but I'm assuming, since it's a weeaboo console rpg, that they don't give you a choice in the matter. Would my assumption be correct?
No, you can choose not to forgive him, I believe. But thats the whole point, to forgive him.

*enters story lore mode*

Your character is branded with the Rune of Punishment, a rune that governs what happens to the just and the unjust. Every time he uses its power, it hurts him. At the end of the game, to destroy the incoming naval forces(if I remember correctly) and stop the main villain, he unleashes the full power of the rune, saving everyone and killing all the bad guys, killing himself in the process. However, if you get all 108 characters(including the aforementioned "Snowe" the Rune of Punishment switches over, and becomes the Rune of Atonement, and you get the true ending where your character lives.

Also, its really rather a sweeping generalization to hate something just because its a japanese RPG, you've never played it, and you, quite frankly, haven't a clue what your talking about, kind sir.

Either Otis from Dead Rising or The Overseer from Fallout 1 (and the one from Fallout 3), though I murdered the overseer from Fallout 1 with a handgun and then watch as his half-body tried to crawl away.

He, he, he!

Link. Sure his games are good, but he just seems like a fruity type of guy.
Navi. I know it's the obvious choice, but Navi. Of course.

Also, Toad. No, I do not want to fight through yet another castle, if the princess is there and not here then why not tell me that in the first place, you little git?

Well, Sagat, just so I can say "Whos the champion of Muay Thai now *****!!"

I would like to kick the ever loving shit out of most of the main Characters in JRPG's so they can stop acting like little bitches, and so they will stop walking around wearing gimp suits or thongs.

I'd simply love to kick the everloving crap out of a Combine advisor. Those guys are dicks. And they're giant, ugly alien slugs who eat people's brains. And they have a really frustrating habit of holding you up against a wall and making you watch as they lobotomize someone you know and love through a straw. And they're also dicks. Any more reasons?
I really can't wait for HL2 Episode 3.
I should have put those guys on my list! I would want to cut one of those guys in half by having them follow me through a portal I made with a portal gun, then closing it when they're half-way through. F'n A

okay, reading through this thread, I realized something. @_@

Now this isn't an attack on anyone, but it appears that all the people who go on about hating JRPGs... dont have a freaking clue what the hell they are talking about, lol. Every one of their posts has been "Oh, I dont have time to go through a my super long lost of characters that I hate" and not one single name. I also suspect that they dont even KNOW any characters from a jrpg at all, lol. And if they were able to pull a name out of their asses, it would be from FF7, which was basically the only JRPG they probably have ever even seen.

Yes, I'm not disagreeing that there are some very emo looking and acting characters from some JRPGs, like recent characters in the Star Ocean games, like Abel. Maybe one of the party members of the Shin Megami Tensei games, or one of the characters, because someone has to be the angsty emo in it. or characters from FF7, like cloud or Vincent, the latter of who personifies emo...city? Or FF8, with their collection of characters that never smile.(save selfie)

Also, maybe the main character from tales of Vesperia.

But I'll give you the truth now... Most lead characters from JRPGs mimic characters from Anime, meaning they are generally more along the lines of a wannabe Goku of dragon ball series, leaping before they look, not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but genial, kind, and a sense of right and wrong. Generally, they arent the angst ridden little miss darknesses.(yes a swipe at the proclaimed girly look that people believe they have.)

just look at RPGs like Radiata Stories with Jack Russel(of stupid name fame) or the other tales series games, like Symphonia with Lloyd. You cant exactly call Pro-Athlete Tidus angsty. And If you've ever played FF9, you really would know Zidane is roughly Anti-emo. Vaan in 12 isnt really emo, but he is definitely a girly boy, but then again it doesnt really matter, because everyone who's ever played it knows Balthier is the real main character anyway...

Grandia 3's protagonist, Yuki, also fits this Somewhat Goku-like persona. Also it has no emo characters in the cast at all(though it still has an annoying "couldn't hurt a fly" pacifist heroine(heroin? darn near-homonyms) that you want to toss out a window from time to time.)

Last Remnant's Rush Sykes(also of stupid name fame) is also completely not emo at all.

Next, Old RPGs, the heroes are not emo in the slightest, Breath of Fire series arent(heck, many leads are mutes, and Ryu from Dragon Quater isn't emo either.) Chrono from chrono cross isnt emo as well, though you might be able to put optional character/vampire/bad guy Magus in there, but he's not effeminate. Early FF games that actually had a story also dont fit the stereotype either. Bartz from FF5 is far too busy cracking jokes to try looking dark. FF6's characters are appropriately serious, without ever brooding, with the exception of Celes, who gets stranded on an island in an alternate world for a year and attempts suicide(but is saved).

I dont know how this whole "Angsty Effeminate JRPG Character" stereotype got started, is it all to blame of FF7 and FF8? Are they the inspiration for it all? Because basically all other RPGs are contrary to the stereotype. So... yeah, most criticisms seem to be void of merit.

Just some observations, peace.

Christ, there are just so many...

Well, Peach for getting herself constantly kidnapped (seriously hire a bodyguard or somethin, your a princess who lives in a castle, you can probably afford a fucking army)Mario for always rescuing her (she must be a hell of a squeeze), Luigi for screwing peach behind mario's back (don't you tell me he's not), Sonic, Templer from Killzone (moody *****). Most male JRPG characters (yes a they are generically effeminate bitches who need to grow a pair for good reason and anyone who defends them are probably effeminate bitches who need to grow a pair as well)

Oh and any NPC that has to be escorted or protected through a level and can't shoot straight or constantly runs into a enemy fire before you can clear it, and then begins telling you (its usually a) she is getting shot and stands there instead of running for cover or shooting back.

Tingle and Navi (or really any of the fairies) from the Zelda series.
Dom from gears of war.
Pretty much all of the characters in Eternal Sonata.
..and most of the characters in GTAIV as well.
