What Game did you play long after it stopped being fun?

Final Fantasy VIII. I just wanted to see the ending, but it stopped being fun about 3 hours before I got to the end.
Like a lot of others... World of WarCraft. Started getting boring before Burning Crusade was released due to already experiencing all the end-game content so mainly just leveling up alt after alt to experience it with them. Still wasn't too bad, especially with the hope of new content on the horizon. But then the expansion did finally come out and after realizing just how in vain all my vanilla gameplay had been, the endgame content for BC was nowhere as interesting and FUN as WoW was expansionless. And then Blizzard started throwing in more and more grind content and less and less new content, and it was easy to see this was their new routine, so when Lich King was released, I never bothered renewing my subscription.
I have watched my best friend play a lot of the newer content since I quit and it has only reassured my decision to do so. Also has made the idea of playing MMOs quite repulsive. Will I ever again? Seriously doubt it.
Another game which has stolen a lot of my time has been Team Fortress 2. It got extremely boring but with the money I have invested in it I still felt obligated to play. But I have moved on for the most part now, only playing with friends or maybe to try out new content. Still haven't seen much of the Mann vs. Machine content though.
Other than those two though, I've never really felt obligated to continue with a game I'm not enjoying. May mean there's not a lot of games I've actually beat, but it does lend a lot of credit to those I have. Especially multiple times.

UMVC3... I stopped having fun because I was too focused on winning everything. I just took a step back and thought how stupid that was and immediately stopped caring about my rank.

I love watching the awesome Dante combos... If I could pick one character to rip through my team it would be Dante.
I am having so much fun with Team DMC. My Trish turned out to be surprisingly good (her crouching heavy is so awesome.) My Dante kinda fumbles about doing the smaller version of Jam Session (backwards quarter circle L) into Million Dollars because fuck combos and my Vergil is as solid as ever.
I would also like to be able to play Jill but she is so low damage with such low health and so damn technical she gets practically instakilled ever single game.
Fun game you can play with Jill. Put her as last character, get three bars with level 3 X-Factor and completely ruin your chances of winning by using her level 3 just to troll your opponent who will be thoroughly confused.
Anyone who plays UMVC3 knows what I mean

I kept telling myself "these are great, this is fun". Took me way too long to realize that, no, they're not that much fun the third or fourth time around. ME3 didn't interest me in the slightest after that, because why would I want to do even MORE of the same cover-based shooting, hacking, endless talking and trodding through city hubs?
Don't get me wrong, I liked them at first, but now they bore me to death. Everything you do in them. No, have to do in them. And that's the thing. Playing them is a chore now, not fun playtime.

Gears of War and [PROTOTYPE]
I hated both of them, but [PROTOTYPE] kept keeping me just intrigued enough in the story to overlook all the things I didn't like, and everyone kept telling me how awesome GoW was so I thought I'd better keep playing in case it suddenly got fun later.

Fallout NV + expansions and mods: I kept playing just to try new builds but overall i just burned out on it and it got very dull.
Assassins Creed revelations I Finished the game only to see how it would end but after the 4th sequence i pretty much had done everything possible.
Warriors Legends of troy I powered through to unlock the cheats only to find that they sucked and were not worth the effort.

On Game Cube The Sims... that game was completely boring, and hard (for me) and even when my brother has The Sims 3 on his xbox when it came out, I was still playing The Sims on my Game Cube, I guess I was bored... but I also hated it because my brother wouldn't let me play the game...
The Sims (doesn't matter what one). I would play it endlessly even though I only liked building the houses for the most part. The Super Smash Bros. series is another one that had so much time put into it with my brother. Though now I have an xbox and steam is on my laptop, so I don't really touch Nintendo anymore. Not sure why, but their games lost luster to me. (And I am afraid to go back to Sims again. >_>)
Tera, it stopped being fun after the first few hours, I was financially invested so I played anyway.

Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, because I wanted to reach the level caps and do absolutely everything before importing my character into the next game. I'm OCD like that. That meant about 4 playthroughs of both ME and ME2 on a single character, with the final playthrough on both games being 100% completion on insanity.
The ending of Mass Effect 3 was a relief, in a way, because any interest I might have had towards starting a new character is now effectively dead.

Lately Pokemon.
I just put my copy of Fire Red into my DS 'cause I was bored and looking for something to do for a few hours.
That was 3 days ago and I haven't played anything else since. Sure the trainer fights and the gym leader battles are enjoyable, but by far most of my time has just been spent battling wild pokemon and leveling up my own. I can't stop though, I need my 'mons to be stronger!

Obvious one is WoW, played it back in TBC/WOTLK and slowly fizzled out, came back about 6 months into Cata, the new quests during leveling made it seem abit fresher then the last time i played.
But then i joined a large like 500 member guild, only a few people ever spoke in that guild so we all decided to make one together (I was GM of it but we all had an equal say) and there was only about a dozen of us in it (Plus out Alts) did raids, dungeons, the whole jazz and just because i didn't want to let my guildies down(Who are good mates of mine and i talk to regularly) i stayed for an extra 2 or 3 months before just being burnt out of being burnt out.
But for one that isn't the obvious choice i would have to pick Fallout: New Vegas, a couple hours into it it just felt like a chore to me and the only reason i finished it was because of the large sum of money i spent of it, it would have been going to a 5 star restaurant, ordering a expensive meal, taking a nibble and leaving.
