Timeshift and a copy of Silent Hill 4 that just didn't work :(

That was followed by another copy of Silent Hill 4 where it did work.

Master of Orion III. I tried so hard to like that game, really I did, but it stubbornly refused to let me.

Customizable planet production, which then automatically "fixes" your poor or unbalanced decisions? Check.

Variable-response race relations, which boils down to giving the appropriately nice-or-Klingon-style-meanie response over and over and over in order to retain relations between fair and neutral? Check.

Fully customizable battle ship production, which you send out into space battles with long-range weapons that end the battle before the camera even zooms in enough to see the little buggers as anything other than a gray square? Check.

It's everything you want in a buyer's remorse game: the promise of so many great things, executed so poorly that you wonder if the guys who made MoO2 got shipped off to a gulag or something.

Spore.

Paid a fortune for the Special Edition, only to find out IT WAS A BAD GAME!

The cost in money was nothing compared to the cost of my faith in developer's promises.

Two Worlds, Nier, Divinity 2, a slew of others.
Aww I loved Nier...

OT -
MAG - So much potential, but the gameplay was just so bland.
Mad World - too gory for me, stupid impulse purchase.
Bioshock 2 - too much like Bioshock 1, only played that game for half an hour before getting bored and never touching it again.
Arkham Asylum - Game was really fun, but maybe I just don't care enough about Batman, so I never beat it after playing a for a few hours.
MW2 - Because I'm dumb as well.
You know I actually enjoyed it for what it was but it certainly didn't feel like it was worth the price tag in any way, shape or form.
Yeah I can see that, especially since the day after I bought and opened it, I saw that K-Mart had a special deal to get the game for $40.

People will probably kill me for this, but Halo 3, don't get me wrong, I love XBOX360, I play Gears 2 often, but I never really got into Halo
I was a bit disappointed in Halo 3, myself. I still greatly enjoyed it, but still disappointed me. For one thing, it had absolutely nothing of the same feel as the first two, and it also seemed a bit rushed, like it could have been more fleshed out and better put together. That's something to watch out for, though, when making a series of games out of a single very good and highly successful one: they pretty much use up all the awesome in the early installments and end up with mediocre stuff in the later ones. Anywho, back from my little tangent now...

Final Fantasy VII. I loved FF3 (I'm not calling it 6, the cart is on the shelf a few feet from me and it says "III") and was hoping for another crazy adventure with a huge colorful cast of characters that all had unique gameplay mechanics and what I got was a bucket of angst and CGI.

It was the moment the JRPG died for me.

I kind of regret buying Disgaea DS. It's a decent game, I'm just not feeling it right now.

Final fantasy 13.

"Get it! I promise it's nothing like all those other FF games you've hated!"

"But it still looks like something I would hate"

"Don't be such a close minded idiot! Just buy it! I PROMISE you won't regret it."

I was lied to. That game....grrrrrrrrrrraAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I have to go to sleep at night knowing I could have gotten Crackdown 2, but instead I caved in to my woman's incessant nagging, and bought a game I knew I wasn't going to like. Honestly though, I hated every second of it.

This. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising too. Im a sucker for post apocaliptic/realistic military games.

Bikini zombie slayers. Oh man, I hoped that it would be full of cheap laughs (to make the $10 I put down worth it) and bouncing boobies. I played it for about an hour or two and got completely stuck. It was such a bad experience, I couldn't find out where to go and I had that life draining blood rage thing going on, so I just stopped playing it. Such a bad regret.

Wow. I think it might have come close to 250 bucks. Way too much money to spend on a RPG.
it was which game, not how much you spent.

I think it would have to be... civilization revolution. thank goodness I still have civ 3 to restore my confidence in the series.
Wow as in world of warcraft.

MW2, L4D2, BC2.

Fail trio. Because I stopped liking such games a day after buying them.

Modern Warfare 2 - need I explain?
Just Cause 2 - so much of a grind and awful story
Star Wars: Empire at War - kinda broken campaigns (when defending you can't make extra troops but enemy can and they have infinite money)
