Hmmm, well I have sort of a love/hate relationship with the upcoming release of the "Old Republic MMO". On one hand I like the idea of the game itself, and want an awesome star wars MMO. I know Bioware can do one, and arguably this has the potential to be an awesome MMO.
On the other hand Bioware has totally "lost it" when it comes to the Sith, and I can already see the massive imbalances in their favor coming sort like happened with Destruction in WAR and The Horde in WoW (Penny Arcade even made a joke about WoW, pointing out that rolling alliance was arguably one of the biggest jips in MMO history. Even game informer mentioned 'Alliance Syndrome' when it came to Aion).
You basically can't turn around without seeing "Booyah Sith" when it comes to that game. Sort of like how during the "Road To War" promotion for WAR you had Destruction massively outnumbering order and pretty much dominating them from the outset before the game even launched.
Then you've got these previews, which to semi-quote other articles, have done things like shown this massively cool Sith in elaborate costume going up against some generic Jedi who looks so bland his name could be "Steve".
Not to mention the whole schtick with a certain spaceship smashing into a building and releaing awesome Sith troopers and such.
The overall impression I get is they are spending WAAAY too much time making the bad guys cool, and with that much development time/love you can pretty much guarantee they are going to be better.
In general I see this going from a potentially awesome, balanced game, to a giant Star Wars satire with Jedi and other good guys getting demolished and power camped all over the galaxy.
The ironic thing is that at this time period the Sith are supposed to end up getting their keisters kicked so bloody hard that come Star Wars nobody even knew what a Sith was for sure anymore, they had been wiped out that completly.
Granted we aren't looking at the resolution, but the war. I think the Jedi/good guys should be at least as cool, but I really don't see that in any of the promotions or anything.
Of course then again, I play a good guy in most MMOs, and am just generally tired of feeling like I'm getting the short end of the stick.
So I guess (with this long explanation) I hope this game is never made in the current form I see. I want the game, I just want a balanced game, and part of balancing it is going to be preparing the sides based around the fact that the Sith are probably going to be outnumbering the Jedi side by at least 25% and probably a LOT more from what I've seen.

Really. I want some fresh ideas. I love my Silent Hill amongst other series, but still. Finish the f***ing story. Just like Robert Jordan books... really good ideas but can never end the story. Is it really that hard to write a damn conclusion?

Then again if they finish developing it and make the open world part interesting, it might be okay. It's got to be better than the first.

Resident Evil or Silent Hill 6, I think it's time to finally close these franchises before they truly go downhill and crash into rubbish

I am a Final Fantasy fan, loved FFVIII, FFIX and FFX. But XIII just looks bad. They need to stick to the swords and magic stuff in my opinion, going all futuristic just doesn't appeal to me. And yes I know VIII was somewhat futuristic (flying schools and such) but it wasn't overly so.Alarid said:
