Psychonauts got me back into gaming, and it made me sure that Yahtzee could be good towards a game, and he was completely just spewing out random hatred.

And I did fall in love with the game before Yatzee started making ZP.
I never played it. What do you do in that game?
Storywise, you are this telekinetic escapee from the circus, who has broke into a summer camp for kids with your abilities (your name is Rasputin) the counselors say that you cannot stay at the camp due to lack of parental consent, so you only have a few days before you are picked up by the circus. You are allowed to learn alongside your fellow campers until then. Going around the campsite, mysterious events including a giant fish, a dentist performing lobotomies, and some of your counselors, and you go around to investigate.

The gameplay is a bit hard to describe. The levels are either the campsite itself, or the minds of people around the site. The main action is platforming, but you have various abilities to use such as mind bullets, psychokinesis(setting stuff on fire), and some others.

Sorry that I broke it down to a wikipedia format, but I really just couldn't think of anything else lol.

It hasn't been said
Seriously!? That game was amazing! Sure i was essentially doing the same actions repeatedly, but it always felt fresh since it's totally innovative, just the shear beauty of that game makes it definite buy for everyone.

None. Everybody has different tastes, so I don't really see there being any given game that "everyone" must play. Perhaps a "must play" within a given genre, but that's about all.

I could mention something old that I have fond memories of playing as a kid, but I realize that's just because everything is fun when you're a kid, and if I played most of the games I enjoyed then nowadays they would suck. Except Digimon World, because I do still play that occasionally.

As for what game you should at least try, Dwarf Fortress is a good one, as well as I Wanna Be The Guy, if only for the one's soul-crushing learning cliff, and the other's soul-crushing difficulty. I don't even enjoy playing IWBTG.. Just that you need something to reflect upon next time you think a game is being impossible.

Hmmm.

For me it would be a toss up between Wizarry 8, and Wasteland.

Always wanted to play "Ocarina of Time" & "Majora's Mask", but I haven't had a nintendo console for a while.

The Original Legend of Zelda. Not much of a storyline to speak of but it was the first true RPG type game ever created.

Any one of the GTA games.
Hell, it can even be GTA I or II...
One of my first favorites as a young lad was GTA II...
Never thought I'd see a game where you can be so free.
And being able to customize it, as I learned years later, added to the fun.
I'm currently modding a San Andreas game, and you can only guess what I'm doing on my 360.

Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past
A very classic game indeed, and well worth the playing.

I love Uncharted 2 and recommend it to any random passerby on the street. I'm spending a third night in hospital for that as we speak */sarcasm*

I do think it's got great gameplay though.

While there are a lot of games more innovative, I think everyone should play psychonauts. It was hilarious, creative, and if nothing else, it would tell Tim Schafer to make more games like it.
Why would it do that? It didn't sell well at all. That said I agree, I enjoyed it even though the meat circus was a pain in the ass to beat.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Because if people bought it then it would make money and that might result in some more quality Schafer games

Ocarina of Time, Halo 3.

If you haven't played those, I will kill you in your sleep.

World of Warcraft. I firmly believe everyone should try it at least once, since it's the best MMO there is and it's highly addicting. I just got back into it and I'm back on the Nazgrel server just like old times. Either you love it or you hate it, but you must try it.

Ratchet and Clank. 9 games, and not 1 of them bad.
I say this as a massive R&C fan: I strongly disagree. Did you ever play "size matters" on the PS2? never before has a game let me down so badly.

OT: there's no one game that would suit everyone, but i do think most gamers should at least taste one of the old classic mario/DK/sonic games. super mario world or DK country are pretty awesome.
While I do agree that Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank aren't nearly as good as the others (probably because they were developed by a separate company)I still enjoyed them both.
