They need to make a Sandbox Megaman game.
I died a little on the inside.

No offense, I just think that's a really bad idea. Nearly every genre Mega Man has tried besides a good old 2D platformer and/or an RPG, he hasn't done very well at.

All the tired old franchises are, well...tired and old. The key to thier sucsess was thier simplicity, because the NES, Genesis etc obviously couldn't handle big 3D worlds. Now that we all need gritty realism and emotional drama, stories of a italian plumber curb stomping murshroom people dont cut it anymore. Zelda could still make a decent game if they really tried because it's a fanasy world with enough established lore to make an interesting story, when i played Twilight Princess on the GC (cause im not buying a Wii...ever) the combat was fun even if the wolf sections were a bit on the lame side. Sonic can't keep up with the times anymore (no pun intended) and his devs are just stapling gimmicks on like they're going out of fasion...cause they are. Dark sides of characters have all been done before (Shadow the Hedgehog, Dark Samus, Shadow Link, Shadow Mario, Akuma, Liquid Snake, Dark Prince, Lara Croft's Doppleganger, Castlevania Doppleganger, blah blah blah) and aren't so "cool" anymore. The one chance Sonic has is if they kept the running stages and ditched EVERYTHING ELSE. But they never will, ever. If Metal Gear keeps chruning out these MEANWHILE!!! games I'll be pretty annoyed. Unfortunatly the idead bin is pretty much empty, so sequels are the only way to go, the rule of 3 wont mean anything anymore...

New Gex title would be pretty cool. Ape Escape was fun as hell too. KoTOR might be nice... FUR F*CKING FIGHTERS!!!

I can't say that any need to die. Like several said before me they're still making money and people still like it(I confess though... I think after Game Freak releases Pokemon SoulSilver I am DONE with Pokemon).

As for revivals there are several games I would love to see remade like Legend of Legaia(My first RPG). But I doubt if they made more games they'd be as good. There are few games with strings of want dead you'd be saying that they should die as well). I'd actually like to see new innovative ideas(escpecially in the platforming industry) more.

Oh and while most Nintendo franchises I admit have run themselves a little ragged theres one I wanna see a new game for and that's a new 3D Kirby Platformer(Ala Crystal Shards).

I know im beating a dead horse with a hard 2x4 but Halo needs to cut the crap. Ill admit the first one was innovative and for its time had the graphical prowess that couldnt be matched. However after the first one i couldnt get into ANY of the others so when shit like Halo Wars, and ODST started rearing their heads i grabbed my door and slammed it shut to Bungie for EVER.

Now for a series that needs to come back. Mech Assult. Own and have beat Mech Assult 1 & 2 and wish they would make another one. I love the style and the possibilites this game brought to the table. The first can be respectfully said as being one of the first EVER games played on XBOX live, so i know its popularity was there at one point. I just want to blow more shit up with giant robots.

I would say NOT Final Fantasy, but whatever. What I would actually say is Dynasty Warriors and any WWII game. Basically they are all remakes of each other.

I would kill for a new Shadowgate!

As for what needs to die off:

Halo
Street Fighter
Smash Bros
Mario Kart
