The Legend of Dragoon ten years after it came out and the fans still want a LOD 2.....even me.

Starcraft again.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. There are people still patching it, and it came out before HL2.

X-com. The game that won't die.

Fallout 1+2. Look at how rabid some Fallout fans can get over Fallout 3.

Jagged Alliance 2 has an uber hardcore fanbase. Not a huge one by any means, but dedicated, 16 years on they are still modding it and making expansions.

Pfft, Portal? Talk to me again in a few years.

I don't know how, but Sonic still holds it's fans by a very short leash. I can't believe how many horrible games they will DIE to defend.

No Mutants Allowed (Fallout 1 and 2, not so much 3)

Though The Looking Glass (Thief, Deus Ex, and various similar games)

The two most dedicated, and some might say fanatical, game communities I've ever taken part in and both with their own internet claims to fame.

I still think Mother 3 wins over all
These two have the right idea.

Gentlemen, good work - spread the greatness of Mother far and wide.

Ocarina of Time has legions of followers. Personally, I've always been more of a Majora's Mask guy myself, but to each his own.

If we're going strictly by dedication and not popularity, then I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned Everquest yet. It's been around for eleven years, there are sixteen expansion packs, and there are still people playing who were around on day one. Now that is dedication. Or addiction. Just sayin...

final fantasy

I've never emt mroe dedicated people to protecting a game.

I'll I have to say is that I just don't get into it and they'll site every reason I should try some iteration or another.

I just don't get into them, sitting down to a game that has over 100 horus of gameplay does not interest mean. That's a week of time, A WEEK!!! minus 60 hours but you get what I'm saying, it's a lot

also, the newest FF, the game starts 20 horus in 20 hours!! totally rediculous

WoW and Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy fans astound me. They still love those games, despite the fact that they.....no, not gettin' suspended again.

are you talking Halo 1 or 2, 3, and ODST because to mean they are two different games (yes I realize theya re in fact 4 different games)
but they play a lot differently, alteast to me. I own 1 2 and 3 and I will play the original again and again, I must ahve beat it 10 plus times with my friends because it was so much fun. 2 and 3 on the other hand. meh is a good word for them

Maybe portal is a favorite for a lot people, but it doesn't have that much user created content as countless other games, and it's not really it's thing. Hell it doesn't even have multiplayer, how do you want to form a community if the people can't even play together.

I endorse this product / service. When it first came out it was THE GAME to play and when the Bioshock people announced they were making an FPS bastard sequel people really showed how much they still cared about it. X-COM might not have blindly following rabid fans, but it has dug deep in everyone's heart :)
