World of Warcraft. It made grinding and playing with others fun for me. And it impacted me by taking out large amounts of my life. But I still love it

Silent Hill 2 was the first and only game to produce an immense amount of fear and dread. Each monster had a darker meaning to it and it resonated with my own hang ups. The plot was the best I have seen so far in a video game: a personal journey where character must face his darkest and most sinister choice. Few games compare in storytelling and emotional response. On that note I need to check out of Heavy Rain.

Snowboard Kids (the first one), this game has had more effect on me than any other media, I think I played this game near enough everyday while I had my good o'l N64 It changed my views on racing games loved everything about it, I loved the simple yet incredibly fun game play, the increasingly challenging tracks, the power ups and the soundtrack contains a few crowning music of awesome. the music had a very distinct and unique style too if that makes sense. I've never heard a game sound track that is anything like this one and I still listen to it a lot today. When I was younger I had lost this game and soon after I started having weird reccuring dreams about it that only went away when I got it back.

The Darkness and Lost odyssey spring to mind for me. Both had scenes that made me genuinely upset.
When Jenny dies and the ending
When Lirum dies and the dreams

Oblivion.. the first game I played using the WASD controls rather than the directional arrows used for RTS gaming, it prepared me for the next onslaught of COD games that I bought on the PC instead of PS2..

On my original play through of Oblivion I tried to use the directional arrows thinking it would be easier.. how did I ever manage with those keys..?

For a game that changed me otherwise I'd say Company of Heroes (RTS) for showing me how much I preferred using a game's world builder as opposed to actually playing games... weird I know.

Call of Duty 4 taught me the overused tactic of 'bum-rush.' It doesn't work quite so much any more, but it's fun tactic when it does.

CoD4's MP was balanced really well - it's the first MP I can think of where the weapons function best when used how their real-world counterparts are intended to be used. Only MP that beats out MW, IMHO, is TF2.

Metal Gear Solid. I had to think completely different, and now I'm ALWAYS looking for the sneaky/stealth route. It's how I always try to play.

Either Oblivion, as my first ever WRPG.

Or Grandia, as my first ever RPG, period.

The Sands of Time is the best example I've ever seen of a relationship developing between two characters (in just about any media too), and KotOR was my first proper RPG, and it just happened to also be fantastic.

If ur diggin for stealth - I'd recommend either the early Splinter Cell games, or the Thief series.
