Just checking to see if anyone else had posted this before me. I find it more amusing to leave the so blatently rubbish Kabbage Boy song in, just to remind you how much better it is than the usual garbage you get.

Hate to Admit it, but Halo hands down wins this, no other game has given me compulsion enough to actually lay down $15(x5) for a soundtrack. I've without fail bought every Halo OST (Halo1-3, Reach and ODST).

Diablo. Man. Besides being incredibly addictive and generally kick-ass it also had a really great soundtrack. Matt Uelmen better be working on D3. Or else.

I'll have to say Nobuo Uematsu, the composer for much of the Final Fantasy music. Seriously, some of the best music for games ever made. I know that it isn't a specific game, but it is just too hard to choose between all that he has made.

Final Fantasy series(even when we no longer talk to each other, I still fondly remember all the good times), Castlevania series, Metal Gear series, Silent Hill 1 and 2, Chrono Trigger/Cross.

Can I ***** for a second and mention the WORST soundtrack? It has to be Dynasty Warriors, curses, the tunes are fucking horrible and distracting... I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the DW series (maybe I'm the only person in the face of the earth that does...) but is the ONLY game I play with the music off!!

Thief II has an absolutely stunning ambient soundtrack by a chap called Eric Brosius. The "Trail of Blood" level is particularly good; one of the first times I was ever actually impressed by videogame music.

I agree whole heartedly, my favorite work he's done is from VI, the whole thing is a masterpiece. He even wrote an Aria for the middle, which he has said was one of his favorite compositions and it may sound silly in 16 bit buuuut...

Super Metroid; it has the title menu theme, and that in itself qualifies it for greatness. Every song used in that game is amazing, but the title theme gives you chills every time you listen to it.
