What game has the most gorgeous soundtrack?

Oddly enough, the Castlevania series has some staying power in game soundtracks. The Final Fantasy series was good for having a variety of themes as well. And the Mario theme haunts your dreams no matter what.

Hehe, I can't emphasize how much I love the soundtrack for Legend of Mana. I have it on my iTunes and listen to it all the time. "Pain the Universe" and "Painting the Earth" are some of my favorites.

the .hack// series has fantastic music, i'd definatly call it the best of any game i've played

honorable mentions include brutal legend, for obvious reasons and fallout 3 whose music was suprisingly good, both the radio music, and the stuff that plays when you dont have the radio on.

Freedom Fighters. The Russian sounding music and chorus are beyod awesome. Jesper Kyd really outdid himself and he really made the perfect music to match such a gritty, ideological atmosphere.

Love the soundtracks for the DoW games. I also listen to them while I'm reading Warhammer novels which is always a bonus. I'm often at a loss when it comes to what to listen to while reading a certain book, because it just doesn't work when I read Lolita while listening to Iron Maiden.

LoZ: The Wind Waker. I know what you mean when you say some game music is not beautiful, and let me tell you, this music is BEAUTIFUL.
RDR also has a great soundtrack, but I might just be saying that because I got it as a preorder bonus. :3

Many games have GREAT music, however I wouldn't call the Duke Nukem theme beautiful. I am less talking about the Dr. Wiley theme (which I love mind you) and more talking on the lines of the Secret of Mana theme.

Planescape torment is by far my favourite.

I have to agree. I think that the music fit the atmosphere and themes so well that I can't imagine the game without it. Best soundtrack hands down.
