The Spyro trilogy.

No matter what mood I'm in, I can always pop in one of these games, relax, and remember a simpler time.
Also the Ratchet & Clank games. Man, I love insomniac.

The Fable saga is getting worse and worse when it comes to gameplay, but I just love the graphics, design of quests and places, characters and most of all the inside jokes. I still love to play them even though fable III was pretty bad in my opinion.

I also love the Professor Layton saga, I'm a huge fan of puzzle games.

Basically seeing the opening cutscene to Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2. Those games gave me so much joy in the past, and seeing the opening to KH 1 in HD this year almost made me cry. It made me so happy.

Rockband and Rune Factory 4 quickly come to mind. I was pretty happy playing Saints Row 4 as well. I have fun with many other games but I tend to feel tense when challenged rather than feeling joyful or happy.

Grandia. Every time I listen to the opening music I want to play the game again. I love the character so much It's like seeing long lost friends (Yeah I'm lame, I know).

Depends on the time frame.

Right now? ACIV: Black Flag.

No matter how I'm feeling, I load it up, blast a few frigates (or just sail around for a while) and I'm instantly feeling good.

Historically? hm... that's tougher. Maybe Red Dead Redemption or an Elder Scrolls game. I love getting lost in those large open worlds.

The Katamari games for the PS2. The music, the graphics, the anarchic sense of humor; there wasn't a thing I didn't love in those games. Even the loading screens were fun. I think the only other time I've enjoyed gaming that much was playing portal and portal 2.

Dead Space

Say what you will about the games, but nothing brings joy to my heart like brutally dismembering your enemies, and them stomping on their corpses with a delightful splatter of gore.

Handheld Zeldas for me. Especialy the Minish Cap. God I love the graphical style of that game. Feels like playing through a childrens book. And the music, beautiful. :)

I haven't been playing a lot of infectiously happy games recently, I guess it's Saints Row IV.

All-time it might actually have been Arkham City, when I was grinding the combat challenge maps everyday and getting really good results (top 250 or better on Xbox Live). The combat system was so good at turning my desires into what was going on onscreen and I was so in tune with the games demands and systems that the positive feedback was incredible.

Mega Man X... up until I get up to the final 3 bosses. 20 years of playing that game and I still have trouble with them. Mostly because by the time I get to that point in the game I'm tired and can't concentrate as well. So I screw up the boss patterns(mostly Sigma's first form).

Another is Ocarina of Time... my favorite Zelda game to this day.

The Mass Effect games are another, but I played so much of them in the last few years that I'm giving the series a rest for a while. I kind of burned myself out playing them too much.

And Final Fantasy VI... my ultimate "feel good" game. There are a lot of times I'll just listen to the soundtrack and it takes me to a happy place.

Saints Row IV. Let me list a few things I did in that game, out of context:
*Disarmed a nuke in midair with my bare hands
*Had sex with a robot
*Ran up the side of a skyscraper, dived off, and landed with enough force to cause a nuclear explosion
*Used a rocket launcher to bring mayhem to a 50s sitcom
*Fended off an army of furries with a gun that makes black holes
*Saved Christmas
*Rode a velociraptor
*Made a SWAT team dance themselves to death with a gun that fires weaponized Polka music
*Became an honorary member of MI6
*Participated in a highly illegal fight club. With superpowers.

I was going to say Dragon Age Origins or Mass Effect as those are my favourites... but it's got to be Portal/Portal 2.

Every so often I replay them back to back, and I always have the biggest grin on my face from start to finish. And god I love GLaDOS. She might just be my favourite character in anything ever. I laugh out loud at her humour every time I play, no matter how many times I've heard it before.

Of the games I had played from last year I have to say rayman legends made me happier than any other game. I bought it on a whim when it was half off on steam and I am so glad I did. Everything about it forced a constant grin on my face. Oblivion gets a special place on that list as well but for some reason the title music from morrowind makes me extremely happy.

Happiest is actually a really hard one for me - most of my favourites are either strategy games or else plot-based but depressing.

I guess I'd go with Saints Row IV - I spent a ridiculous about of time grinning at that game.
