The hammerspace.
You know how you can carry several weapons, ammunition, key items, and shitloads of money, all without being physically encumbered, and it doesn't show?
Now do that with the shopping, moving house, and everything at work.

That, or the ability to survive 20 smacks from someone's huge sword (see Soul Calibre).

It's always been a fantasy of mine to be buying a soda and one of those Mario Super Stars comes flying out of the slot and starts bouncing around, accompanied by the wonderful invincibility music if I can manage to catch it.

health regeneration, quick save/load, double jumps, the ability to carry 5 swords or guns with no hindrance on movement abilities, and last but certainly not least the ability to kill someone with one hit from a buttstock to any part of the body

Not a game mechanic per se, but what about a search function?

There are times where my life would be so much easier if I had that. For example, finding my socks in the morning...

Oh yes, you've got to love the hammer principle. The uncanny ability to carry enough weaponry to destroy a small country in the space the size of your pocket is not something that should be overlooked.

Uh okay, alot of them...

-Respawning (unless you get kicked/booted for being a totally evil dude)
-Quick save/Load
-the ability to Mute annoying people
-Acheivements
-Pokemon (Don't kid yourself, this would be awesome)

Okay so "pokemon" isn't really a game mechanic, but I don't care

I'd settle for a 'wait' function. Get to work, 'wait' 8 hours, work day is done instantly!

Barring that, I'd love it if there were loot sparkles for quest-important items. Like [Find Your Cell Phone] or [Where Did I Leave My Keys This Time?].

Uh...cheat codes? I'd like to be able to Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start something and instantly be granted with a tone of awesome powerups...

achievements?!?! Just write down "wrestled a bear - 180 Life Points' once you do it or something, man I'd hate an achievement bubble popping out every time I had sex or passed a test.
