I remember fondly Yoshi's Island and Donkey Kong Country. They were actually my mama's and I would first watch her play. They were my first games.

Watching your Mother play videogames automatically makes your childhood epic and beautiful, my good sire. I salute you.

Even if it's watching her massacring hellspawn in DOOM?

Nostalgia games for me would be DOOM, Ocarina of Time and Pokemon Gold Version.

Doom and Doom 2. Playing them in my school computer room during 6th form, and everyone having to spontaneously reset their computers when the teacher walked in.

"There was a power cut, honest sir!"

ESPECIALLY if she's massacring hellspawn in DOOM.

Golden Axe, and Streets of rage mostly.

I still play them today. It's great, because golden axe can be completed in half an hour which makes going through it less of a chore than other similar games.

my first console was a PS2 and I'm getting kinda nostalgic for some of the games the (jak and daxter mainly becouse that's the first game I ever bought with my own money) but the most nostalgia for me is Sonic 3, GTA 1, and wolfenstein 3D. funny thing is that I had all of those games on PC. my uncle who is a programing genius(he works in programing) one day came to visit and he had a couple of cd's that he used to install a bunch of games (I never realized until a couple of years ago that he had pirated them).

other games include lion king, jungle book and Aladin (all on the PC and Aladin was a genesis port (and no those were bought legaly)). also the Hercules video game the first game I ever beat

You've asked for it.

PSX era:

Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX
Vagrant Story
Parasite Eve
Chrono Cross
Xenogears
Valkyrie Profile
Suikoden II
Metal Gear Solid
Syphon Filter 1 and 2
Tenchu 1 and 2
Resident Evil 2 and 3
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Tekken 3
Rayman
Medievil
Spyro the Dragon
Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3
Crash Team Racing
Gran Turismo 2
Rollcage 2

after the PSX era (2000 onwards), in no particular order:

Metal Gear Solid 3
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil Remake
Metroid Prime 1 and 2
Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven
Ninja Gaiden (original Xbox)
Halo: Combat Evolved
Splinter Cell 1, 2 and 3
Gran Turismo 4
Tekken 5
Devil May Cry 1
Onimusha 1
TES III: Morrowind

This is pretty much the gist of it. This is a selection of games I played and enjoyed when I was 11-21 years old. I still play Morrowind ;). I also still consider replaying MGS1, MGS3, RE4, RE remake, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Medievil, Soul Reaver and the Crash Bandicoot series....the rest...not so much.

three totally awesome retrogames
Now THAT'S oldskool.

Me? I was more of a nintendo to SNES era kind of guy. (I think that's why I agree with MovieBob so much on gaming tastes. we come from the same era.)

instead of trying to do a list of EVERY SINGLE game that defined my childhood, I'll just list the ones I've played LAST YEAR.

TMNT: Turtles in Time
Knights of the Round
Romancing Sa-ga 2
Romancing Sa-ga 3
Quest For Glory 1 and 2
Sword of the Samurai

That should do for now.

I remember going round to my mate's house to play TNMT on his SNES! That game was f*cking epic.

The SNES one is one of the few examples of a game port being BETTER than the original.

I'm also nearing 30 and my list is equally huge. That said...while I played lots of very old games in my time I probably get most nostalgic about the 16bit era. I guess I would have been...13? 14 maybe? I'd been playing games hardcore for years by then but for some reason this era tickles the ol' nostalgia bone a little harder than the real classics.

Who knows right?
