Probably Fallout 3.
I still love the game but the first time I played it and spent my hours exploring the Capital Wasteland was some of the best times I've had playing a video game. I would love to play it again from scratch without knowing anyting about it.

Legend of Zelda or the first Final Fantasy on NES. Both of those games directly related to my eventual love for RPG adventures both video game-wise and tabletop-wise. Yeah LoZ wasn't necessarily an RPG but it had elements of said genre enough to warrant an honorable mention. Also another series would be Mario because it was SMB that truly hooked me onto video games in general and was the deciding factor for which system (Atari or NES) that I ultimately got for Christmas in '86. Thank you to Nintendo for my love of games. Also I do get a smidgen of the first time feel whenever I deign to play one of those old school carts.

I guess I'd pick the Star Wars:Battlefront series. It was my first FPS that used both analog sticks, and considering that now, so many years later, I almost exclusively play shooters, I think that series had a great effect on me. I just think it would be cool to learn FPS controls again. I tried to teach my father a while back, and he just couldn't wrap his mind around how to look while moving.

Infamous. I'd want to go completely evil all over again. Ah, it was great, smacking people around without any consequences.

I'd also like to replay the Batman: Arkham games, back when the first two were in their heyday. I missed out when everybody was gushing about how great Arkham Asylum was.

Mine has got to be Portal 1/2, just because the humour in that is great but I can't really play it twice because I already know all the puzzles and I'd like at least some form of challenge from the gameplay.. At this point I could just relisten to the audio files.

Oh man there are so many. If we are talking about a whole series its going to be Halo. But and individual game? Its a toss up between Planescape Torment (assuming i get to keep my knowledge of 2nd Edition) and The Witcher 2. Or now that i think about it maybe KotOR II (with the restoration mod).

It would probably be Dragon Age: Origins for me, as it is my favourite game.

Replays just can't give the value of learning everything by talking to everyone like it did the first time. Also there is the hard hitting of story aspects (I won't delve into spoilers) that I will never forget, so I'd like to experience those 'thumps' or hard-hitting moments again.

From a research perspective, I'd be interested to know if I'd enjoy the games of yesteryear as much if I played them now. So if I sat down with say Super Mario 64, now, would it be as good? I don't know. Impossible to know, so would be interesting - assuming that at some point I could regain the knowledge of my first impression.

Mass Effect

The reveal of Sovereign was one of the creepiest/more awesome twists I can remember. Also, by the time I played Mass Effect 2 (on the PS3), it was already out for several weeks in other platforms, so I knew most of the early twists, like the identity of Archangel or the chance to include a Geth in my party.

Hm. Everyone is saying the Mass Effect games it seems. I've still never played any of them.

Anyway, probably Kingdom Hearts. I mean, replaying it on the HD re release was nice and all, like revisiting an old friend, but it pales in comparison to how the game felt my first time playing it. So much wonder, so make joy, and it was the first video game ending to make me tear up a bit. I mean, the ending still tugs a bit at my heart, but I don't cry over it...sometimes.

Speaking of which, do I ever miss gaming when I was younger. I mean, sure, today having much more access to video games is nice and all, and I can finally keep up with all the latest, but when I was younger, I relied strictly on my parents generosity, which was severely limited to birthdays and Christmas if I was lucky. Every new game felt great to get, and I'd do my best to make it last. Each one was like literally exploring a whole new world.

Today I just plop at my computer desk, say "What game do I want to play today?" and then continue to play it anywhere from 1-3 days (depending on the length of the game) and beat it, only to move on. This is all assuming I didn't get bored of the game before I got that far, or other more important things didn't get in the way.

Bayonetta. I lost my 40+ hours save and every time I pick it up it just depresses me so much.
I wanna play through it again before Bayonetta 2 comes out though.

Lots of possible answers, no doubt. Mass Effect, the Tales series, Monkey Island, Zelda. But if I only get to pick one, it has to be Shadow of the Colossus. I played it with my best friend, when it was new, in a dark basement, and it just blew our minds. The awe and fear at the reveal of each monstrous beast, the puzzle of how to bring it down, the creeping dread that builds as you start to wonder if you aren't the hero you think you are and you might actually be doing something terrible instead. I wish I could feel that all over again.

Mass Effect, The Walking Dead and The Last of Us. Arguably the first Bioshock as well, because the mid-way reveal with Andrew Ryan is one of the very few game twists to have genuinely shocked me. Oh! And Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as well - in fact, pretty much the entire MGS series (bar Revengance which I haven't nor intend to play).

Each a veritable masterpiece of gameplay, story, immersion and characters in my opinion but I'm always a little sad that I'll never be able to experience that unique first time feeling with any of them.

Mass Effect all the way...I've been trying to think up an excuse for getting the trilogy on the PS3 despite having poured a couple hundred hours into the first two on the 360 (console currently in storage) and, several dozen hours on the 3rd for Wii U (kinda pointless without the past two installments).

Another candidate would be the Kingdom Hearts series. It might make me appreciate 3DS and, Birth by Sleep more. I still have yet to play the second installment on the PS2 though so I still have that to look forward to.

Probably the original 3 Spyro games or 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors.

Spyro's a pretty easy one. It was one of, if not my very first game, and the colour and life in the worlds and characters are too charming to pass up.

999 is up there for a completely different reason. The pull there is re-unraveling the story. Figuring out the varying paths, the red herrings, the betrayals and surprising alliances, the slowly revealed depth of the initially simple "stock" characters. Combine that with the darker themes of death and futility and we come up with one of my favourite narratives of anything. Ever. Of all time.

Persona 4. It's still a great game, but you'll never get that same feeling once you know who the murderer is...
This. Even moreso for me since I had the murderer spoiled for me. On a Persona 3 OST video on youtube.
