As the title asks, what game or games deserve an updated remake, basically its not an HD remake, its a full remake, same premise but with updated controls or technology, me I can think of three games.

1. Morrowind, I love the game, its a good world, but while I can ignore the graphics, I can not ignore the mechanics, which is me swinhing and hoping I hit the enemy. If Morrowind had the oblivion or Skyrim Engine, perhaps with more quests, maybe more weapons and update the graphics, it would be a great revival of one of the greater Western RPG's

2. Simpson's Hit and Run, I love the Simpsons, even today, but I look at at this wacky title, I say an HD remake at the minimum would be enough for simpson's fans. I know it isn't the greatest of games, but its humor, its attention to detail to the lore of the Town of Springfield, I can totally see an updated version with more missions, a bigger world, perhaps adding new stuff that has happened over the years.

3. Sid Meier's Alpha Centari, my god this is an awesome game, but the controls...ugh. I love what it sets out to do, I love the fact that screwing up the land scape will have the world sending tendrils of nightmare fuel against you (no seriously) I love how you can create custom units (within reason of course) to make your personal army, and I love the world that it sets out to create...but the controls are just, they were good back then but today they need an update, I would suggest Civ 5's engine and tweak it, using hexagons and not being able to stack units, and allow us to set the amount of opponents would be nice. This is one game everyone at least once, if they consider themselves a hard core gamer should try at least once (you can find it on GOG for bout 6 bucks if you are wondering)

Those are my thoughts, what have you got?

I'd like to see the glory of Kurt Hectic's chiseled buttocks rendered in an HD MDK remake. I love Shiny's unique sensibilities but, while the original is still fun, it feels a kinda flat and barren. Plus, I'd just like to see a game like that in motion with what can be accomplished nowadays in terms of animation.

I would like to see a better, updated version of Homeworld: Catacylsm. I've beaten Homeworld and HW:2 but couldn't play Cataclysm. I can't remember if it's because it felt broken or because the graphics were awful.

OT: Okay, to elaborate, I want another Ape Escape, mainly a remake of the first one that's not on a handheld that has some of the worst loading times ever. I want it on a console with 2 analog sticks since the Ape Escape series would properly utilize both analog sticks all the time. And while we're at it, get good damn voice actors. Ape Escape 3's voice actors did fine, so bring some of them back! >.<

Hell, do an HD collection of all 3 games and I will buy whatever system it is coming out on in an instant. It's the one series I will drop money for no matter what. Come on Sony, it's a mascot for you in Japan, give me the HD Collection or that Ape Escape 4 you promised me, and keep the PS Move away from that one.

Well going really old school, hmm well After Duck tales I to see Chip and Dale rescue rangers 1 and 2.

Sweet Home on the nes could really due with an update and bringing it over to the U.S. but everyone is to old for old school horror ;p

And then all the mothers if going that far back and talking about imports getting done ;p

After that maybe Blue stinger and Illbleed 2 dreamcasts games made by the same people that are cult classics on a cult system.

Sweet home would be an awesome game to remake, I mean having a good game based on a license (based on a Japanese Horror Movie) would also be good

I'll second Alpha Centauri.

And add Syndicate.

Not as that lame FPS, but as a squad based tactics. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is about as close as I have seen, but lacks both the real time component, the cynicism that came with caring more about the cyber implants in your squad than the people who had them, and the insanity of missions like "we want to get one our our scientists to quit messing around and get to work- go kill his mistress" or using the persuadatron to convince a mob to go kill a politician giving a speech.

The old Dark Engine games could definitely use a visual overhaul, namely Thief 1 and 2 as well as System Shock 2. All amazing classics of the PC platform and some of the best games ever made, deserving a chance to impress a new generation of gamers which might otherwise be offput by the aged visuals.

There are visual improvement mods for all three of those, but there's only so much modders can do with that old game engine. A nice new coat of paint in a shiny new engine could do wonders.

Not exactly now, give a few more years but Saints Row 2, the gameplay is very dated even now comparing to other sandbox games, it feels very stiff and there are some limitations to the game (when causing mayhem you only get two simoultanious cop cars on screen, it never feels very caotic). Add to that the fact that the PC version sucks balls and in a few years we will need a remake to be able to play it again properly

I wouldnt mind a new M.A.X game. It was a pretty detailed turn based RTS with some great mechanics. I dont even think it needs an update graphically (though it would be nice, just saying that my priority isnt graphics.) Just engine/compatibility issues because of how out of date it is (breaks in newer windows, still relies on old tcp/ip for multiplayer)

If Capcom is smart (which they aren't, but just for agrument's sake) they'll do a REmake styled remake of Resident Evil 2.

Yeah... just let that sink in for a bit.

For me, the Freespace games. The closest we have now are economic sims in space, with a bit of combat. We need to bring back the true space operas!
Yes, Freespace. Hell, Starlancer, Wing Commander, X-Wing and Tie Figher... there's a whole genre that deserves an update.

But in another thread overnight I already suggested one and I'll repeat it here. Metal Gear 2. SK isn't around to give the cutscene the "Twin Snakes" over the top badass-ery it needs, but the fight between Snake and Frank Jeager in the minefield... that was freaking epic in 8-BIT. Never happen though, to make games as large and expansive as Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2... It'd come on about 20 discs or direct download would be like hundreds of gigs.

Tomb Raider 2013 edition is crying out for a next gen remake thankgod they listened.

FFVII is the obvious answer although I am really not sure I trust Square Enix to pull it off now they seem to have lost touch with a lot of what made FFVII special in the first place, and Cloud I just dont think they get what that guy is supposed to be he changes in every game and not for the better same with Sephiroth they just dissapeared up their own arses with the one winged angle symbolic bullcrap. Sort of reminds me what they did with the Deathnote anime the original material had the sybolisms but didnt ram it home like the anime did or the games released after FFVII set in the same universe did.

Darkstalkers also needs a new edition but I guess that dosent count as it would be a new game not a remake.

As Always Grandia. I absolutely love the game, the game mechanics, the story and characters but the game is really old and quite ugly.

I never played FF6 and a remake with the FFXIII engine would be awesome.

Magic: The Gathering (MicroProse)

This game absolutely blows away any magic the gathering game on the market today. It was fantastic and still is a blast to play if you tolerate it's very poor stability issues. For those unaware it's basically and RPG game using magic cards and it's not afraid to put a spin on the rules for added spice.

As you defeat enemies you win cards from their deck to customize your own. As you lose to them they'll take cards from yours. Like any rpg your life total starts out very low (6 I think) and you need to quest to improve it. Dungeons will have background effects impacting the game such as your life total doesn't reset after a match.

It's just a fantastic experience only hurt by having so few magic cards represented along with a poorly explained story/goal system. Remake this game, please!

Resident Evil 4.

...to elaborate, I'd reboot it so that it emulates the style of the original trailer (more supernatural horror, less James Bond vs. terrorists). Youtube the original trailer for reference, if curious.

Final Fantasy 12.

Curb the difficulty at certain points, touch up the HD, but otherwise, I found this game to be a story gem.

...and while on the topic, Final Fantasy 7.

The idea of the remake has been done to death, but the potential for new gameplay combined with the colorful style makes me curious.

Knights of the Old Republic.

...as single player experience. Not saying the MMO didn't have it's charms, but focusing on a single player campaign allows for more detailed environments, better character models, a more tight and centered story, and ultimately a more dynamic gameplay experience not bogged-down by MMO restrictions or technical hinderances.
