Herzog Zwei.

Seriously. This title (arguably) started off the entire RTS genre... on the Sega Mega and Genesis. Console platforms for God's sake! Remaking this would be the only way to introduce strategy games to the console platform...

...until, despite being an excellent title, it would be a major financial disaster. And then we PC elitists can go around proclaiming how the console gamers have neither the finesse nor the attention span for the sophistication of strategy games! XD

Kidding aside, Herzog Zwei would be the most awesome RTS/RTT remake. Only for the PC of course - PC gamers can claim exclusivity, and console gamers wouldn't care.

The Saboteur.

It still doesn't support quad-core CPUs...and still crashes very badly.

Star Wars: Rebellion! How can Lucasarts resist the lure of a Grand Strategy game set in the Star Wars universe?

I personally would love to see an update to the old game they made out of William Gibson's Neuromancer. I'm just having fun imagining what today's graphics and gameplay advancements can do the the lovely cyberspace sequences...

... but I keep coming back to a cynical view that it shall be royally pooched, so I'm not hoping too hard.

a revival of X-Com BACK TO THE OLD-SCHOOL FORMULA! non of this FPS bullshit,or RTS crap! no,i want my TBS with research, building bases strategically, managing income, watching that you DONT accidentally blow up your collectible alien resources on the playing field, watching your time units/stamina,using tanks as mobile cover for your troops! omg i can go on and on,but i think you get the point...OH and one more thing BRING BACK THE OLD CLASSIC ALIENS! sectoids, snakemen, ethereals, even the dreaded crisallid! all that good stuff, then make even more memorable aliens! (not too many though to overshadow the classics) ok seriously, for the next x-com game, they should just hire me,i would know EXACTLY how to make it awesome and fun just like the old days. sigh~ but my dream will probably never be...now im sad,LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID TO ME!!! :'(

(General Chaos also gets a vote from me)
Glad to know I've got your support :p

Master of Magic. Despite its flaws, it was a great game that few modern turn-based strategy games can beat. Obviously a graphics update is in order, as well as some balance problems and such.
Also, Crusader Kings: great idea, poor execution. Update the UI and add more to the politics and you're golden. While the original had fairly complex politics, there wasn't much you could DO with it once you explored the obvious routes.

Oh man, no way you mentioned Mutant League Hockey. I LOVED that game as a kid.

As for something different, I'd be happy to see a fresh 2D (or even 3D) remake of Ranger-X. Really unheard of game, but it has possibly the best music ever, and it's a real challenge without being impossible.

Dungeons. It's effectively an up to date DK under a slightly different name.

One of the many sequels in the Black & White series that we were promised would be lovely.
Two was great and everything, but Molyneux, you promised us an epic saga of our god's rise to power, followed by his downfall as humanity becomes more and more technologically advanced.

I want those games.

I am waiting and wishing that Mutant League Football and Mutant League Hockey will be remade for the 360/PS3.
Since I can't think of anything right now, I'll take your vote because it's a good idea.

Uncharted Waters: New Horizons

We need more sailing games, especially now that graphics have gotten so good.
this! this a thousand times over! That game is ridiculously good, I'd also throw in the 2 shadowrun games for Sega and SNES, and an old dos title based on the enuma elish (probably the first epic), called "Dragon Wars"

I vote for any good game that will run on a 5 year old Dell. Nothing ever runs on a five year old Dell. I've seen BROKEN PC's that run better than a 5 year old Dell.

And on this five year old Dell. . . I remake of Command and Conquer Red Alert 1, Aftermath, and 2.

It would make me cry.

Crimson Skies. Remember Crimson Skies? The airplane combat sim set in an alternate 1930,s time line where America divided into several independent nations and everyone flies planes? Where was it's sequel? The possibilities for this game were endless.

You could have had customizable planes, squad mechanics, a call of duty-esque unlocking system, a persistent online war. Remember the parts in the game where you had to bring down the big zeppelins or defend your own zeppelin from attack? They were the most intense action packed parts of the game. Why was there no zeppelin vs zeppelin online matches? Each team has to blow up the other teams zeppelin while defending their own.

This could have easily become a franchise on par with Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield etc. And a nice alternative to the gray brown fps's that are every where. I wouldn't have minded a new Crimson Skies game every year. But no. The developers had to make Shadowrun. And not a real Shadowrun game like the decent rpg for the SNES. But a crappy online only first person shooter Shadowrun.

Dammit we should be playing "Crimson Skies 6: Ocean State Uprising" and discussing what the best zeppelin load out is and how we stopped the Dominion of Rhode Island from conquering the Empire State.
