A certain Dinosaur Hunter comes to mind...
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was so much fun, but all the sequels sucked something awful. Whay happened Turok? I used to think you were cool.

For me it would be the Spyro series. I have many a fond memory of playing the 2nd and 3rd Spyro games on the PS1 and would happily replay them and have. On the strength of this I bought Spyro: Eternal Night for PS2. And then wept with fury at the horror that unfolded infront of me. Bad voice acting, terrible graphics, shite gameplay, horrendous pseudo-mystical bollocks of a story and a sidekick more irritating then even Navi from Zelda.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Any Spyro game not made by Insomniac (i.e. the Playstation 1 games) will forever torture me as being the worst games ever made. This is mostly due to the fact that nostalgia has taken me over to the point that nothing will ever meet my expectations for a new one, and also due to the fact that they just kind of suck nowadays.

Mario? the games aren't particularly bad, but they could have at least changed SOMETHING at some point in the last billion games.

Also guitar hero, they release a new game every other day and dont add much.

and finally need for speed, from most wanted, their games went downhill (although i hear shift is pretty good)
WOW those are all the games I would say

LOZ: Orcania of time and majora's mask. I remember those looking absolutely amazing when I was 6, although the games are still fun, Link looks like he's made out of cardboard boxes.
More recently, Twilight princess isn't aging very well, and pretty much every final fantasy game since the invention of 3d.
Wait your going on graphics? Of course the N64 doesn't look as good as 360/PS3. >.<

OT: Sonic is definitely the most obvious one. Mario platformers are debatable, although the RPG Mario games are still awesome.

The conflict series. *shivers* Denied ops sucked soooo badly.

Also i worry about the battlefield series. dont get me wrong, i love Bad Companhy and play it, but it felt like a step down from Battlefield 2, modern Combat. I miss bigger maps and parachutes.

Probably...FF7.

Yeah, I said it.

That game is pretty much unplayable now. All the characters look like pinatas and they clash horribly with the prerendered backgrounds.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There hasn't been a good Turtles game out since Turtles in Time.

Mortal Kombat. I loved being able to sprint in MK3. The 3D games, especially Deadly Alliance, focused way too much on dial-a-combo, where the longest combo was the best, and every other combo was pretty much inferior in every way. I also hate how every time in VS mode, you pick a character you're not familiar with, you have to check the moves list pretty much every 2 seconds.

Halo. Yeah, I only liked the first one (haven't played ODST though). I hated how in 2 and 3, the shield was pretty much your entire health bar. Weapon balance went out the window, too. Yes, Halo 1 had the overpowered pistol, but then again, there were a few weapons that rivaled the pistol. The sniper rifle had a fast firing rate for a sniper, killed in 3 shots (or 1 if it was a headshot, where the pistol needed an enemy's shield to be down for a headshot to instant kill), the rocket launcher just needed to hit next to an enemy's feet to instant kill, and the shotgun was pretty damn powerful, too.

I hated starting off with a bloody SMG in Halo 2's multiplayer. At least Halo 1's Assault Rifle had some semblance of accuracy if you burst-fired.

Prince of Persia (The entire Sands of Time trilogy) looks pretty bad nowadays.
You think so? I played it recently, and thought it held up pretty well. Maybe in the closer textures, but the animation still holds up and the environments still have that mystical vibe.

I'd say Half-life. Even Episode three feels positively archaic after playing more modern shooters.
Your time machine works then?

OT: Can't really think of any, but I do go back to replay a lot of older games quite frequently, so maybe I'm just more used to it then someone who's left the games for 8 years.

Knights of the Old Republic
Spider-man 2
I love both of those games but the graphics are not starting to put a hamper on the experience.

When a game "Doesn't age well" That typically means graphically, there are some old games that still look beautiful by today's standards. Wind Waker for example, where as other games made in the same or newer generations (twilight princess) aren't looking so good.
Ico is ps2 era, but seeing screen shots of The Last Guardian, Ico can still hold it's own.

Okami and viewtiful joe are also examples of games that "age well" Because they have unique art styles instead of using the cutting edge 3d of the era, which is constantly evolving.

On topic, Final Fantasy has a formula but because they've stuck to it too much, I feel that series hasnt aged very well.

Sonic's the obvious choice.

I actually disagree with the people who say Mario. Yeah sure, he's the popular choice, but you'd be fooling yourself if you were to say that Galaxy did not change the Mario formula at all.

I'll concede Zelda though. TP added almost nothing new to the series.
