maybe I'm just an old fuddy, but I say take $20 and get 5-6 games on gog that are all very good and very fun. I just got:
* The settlers II
* Simon the Sourcer
* Simon the Sourcer II
* Simon the Sourcer 3D
* Dungeon Keeper
* Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fauthers.

All for less than 20
Not to mention that they are currently giveing away
* Beneath a Steel Sky (featured this week on jimquasition)
* Ultima Iv
* Teen Agent
* Lure of the temptress
* Tryrian 2000
* Dragonsphere

Just for signing up.

Don't get me wrong, I love steam too. I just got the old school bug this week.

If you insist on steam, I recommend
* Magicka
* Portal
* Star Wars: KOTOR
* Limbo
* GTA 3
* GTA Vice City
* Half-Life 2
* Braid

All of which are great games and all of which are $10 or less.

If you insist on brand new games then
* Skyrim

Hands down best value for your dolar.

i definitely mirror your not wanting strategy or RTS, simply because after the last sale I winded up with over a halfdozen strategy games; you can only strategically send armies to war and develop economic and diplomatic policies so much until you start getting a wee bit tired of it

I would agree with everyone in waiting for the christmas sale; my policy with steam is I try to only buy games on sale~

Yes! -high five- In fact it's best to play as a Malkavian first, the dialogue is so interesting.

OT: Thirding VtM: Bloodlines :D

Now I think the advice is "dont play Nosforatu first." That hurts my head trying to think of how to play that officaly and unnofficaly. As in "I am an ugly beast....HALLO POLICE!" to "Now which way am i to go in the sewers? dammit i am lost....."

I think Malk is the perfect way. Aside from the fact most of the speech choices...were almost the exact words i would use. I dont think that being "Sane" and takeing in all this vampire Lore is a choice. Otherwise you look like your an Idiot. "Yes I am a sexy vampire! I just got turned an hour ago. I am fine with this!" Instead Malk is perceptive and insane...so even if they arnt alright with it...it dosnt show.
While I certainly wouldn't recommend Nosferatu as a first play through (obfuscate is your friend there) the Malk playthrough is just a little too insightful and a little too much fun. For the full effect of the Malk dialogue you really do need to know how the game plays out. No other play through give the same extra detail. It is certainly a lot harder to play Malk then say Tremere than it is to play Tremere then Malk.
Anyway listen to Rosa, she knows what is what...sort of.
So, am I going to win after all this is said and done?
Whether or not you win the game...matters not. It's if you bought it.
