What game should I buy for my pc?
I have just Left 4 Dead 2, and was hoping to expand my game collection, dont mention TF2, Im already getting it.
Any genre will do, I prefer shooter/sci-fi/fantasy, stuff like that.
If you post a game I used to have for my old xbox 360 I dont want to get it as I want new games and experiences.
Not MW2 I used to have for pc and it broke.
Thanks, and im new :D

Well, KF is a good game if you have some friends to play with. Garry's Mod is also fairly fun, but requires Half Life 2. Or you could just get Half Life 1 or Deus Ex.

Also welcome to the escapist! Ignore that sound coming from under the staircase, and don't go in the basement!

Hmm I will list a few I found good

Dragon Age Origins
Mass Effect 1 and 2
Morrowind
Starcraft 1/2-if you are into RTS games
Guild Wars-it is an MMO, but there is no subscription
Bioshock
Oblivion
The Witcher
Half Life 1/2-pretty fun FPS games with a story

I've already had both Mass Effects for xbox, when im getting TF2 it will probably be with the orange box so I'll probably be getting HL2 and Gmod. Could you elaborate on what KF is? I'll be sue to check out The Witcher.

EDIT: I love online play, but lack any games with a story to it, would buy games like fable 3 in a heartbeat, due to its story and uniqueness.

Go for a Stalker game for single player experience.

Killing Floor is a game where you kills waves of "zombies" online until there are no more zombies but a big huge bastard which you kill then move onto the next map. More likely though you'll die and have to retry, the game can be fecking difficult on the harder modes.

I'll advise getting an RTS game as well, World in Conflict/Company of Heroes/Age of Empires are all good ones. Or if you want a more of a grand scale type RTS go for a Total War game.

Go download Spelunky in the meantime, it's free.
Oh so is League of Legends, Cave Story, Ben There Dan That and Dwarf Fortress.

If you like fantasy and rpg's, I couldn't recommend Baldur's Gate series or Planescape Torment higher. Or the first two fallouts. Ah hell, just check out gog.com

For a sci-fi/shooters, System Shock (I prefer 2) and Deus Ex are also excellent.

Shooters? Sci-Fi? Fantasy?

Starcraft 1 and 2 for a start. They fit all 3 catagories.

Deus Ex 1 is excellent. The second one is shit.

F.E.A.R. is my current favorite. It's alright, but not very well placed with the story.

FarCry is a slightly sci-fi shooter. Awesome story too.

Mass Effect 1 & 2 also sound like they fit your style.

In my opinion I think The Witcher would be a pretty good choice. It is a fantasy game with a great story and good game-play. Mass Effect would also be good for the PC. it is a Third Person Shooter made by Bioware and is pretty fun.

Ok, I'll check out ones said, also Continuity, I didnt mean online play with story, it was just a toss up between the two, and I already had online games, so about now I prefer a story.

EDI: Im not getting Mass Effect, had both for xbox and I want new games.
It seems like The Witcher is good, also I'd like a scary game like F.E.A.R etc. Could anyone recommend any psychologically scary games like stalker and fear etc. thanks again!

The Orange Box, mainly because it's open up a hell of a lot of mods. Seriously. Most standalone mods for a game ever? Probably.

Also, do sample RTS. I think Rome: Total War is a good place to start, since it's fun and there's a healthy amount of mods for it, and also good to see if you like turn based strategic games like Civilization (which a new one is coming out *I think* next month).

Also, I hear Bethesda's games (Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3) are pretty good RPGs, and they too have pleanty of modding available.

I always find that so many people here love to recommend old games...

Anyway, STALKER is a great series. I've only played Call of Pripyat but I know the first 2 are very similar, and both SoC and CS have the "Complete" mods. CoP was really good not a lot of bugs for me, and there's a couple mods that really pulled the game together like high res textures and new realistic weapon souns.

Metro 2033 is very much like STALKER, but way better graphics, less RPG, more linear, much more narrative and engaging story.

Fallout 3 = Sci fi, fantasy, shooter rpg. IMO far better than Mass Effect but to each their own. Personal favorite.

Starcraft 2 is epic and awesomely fun, if you like RTS at all.

The Witcher is overrated IMO... It was ok but personally I didn't find it all that engaging. Got bored around chapter 3... but, the sex cards are fun lol.

Buy Starcraft 2.

If you played the first one to death, that'd be a keen waste of 60 dollars.

System Shock 2, Condemned and Metro 2033 range from throat-clenching terror to creepily atmospheric, respectively. Also, if you get STALKER, either get the original or Call of Pripyat, and get the STALKER complete mods for the respective version. They add a ton.

Orange Box (rather than Tf2 on its own) and Garry's Mod.

Maybe Counter-Strike: Source for the Trouble in Terrorist Town game-mode for Garry's Mod
