What game took you the longest time to beat, and how long?

Not counting WoW, Fallout 3.

I had never played a game like that before. I was more of an FPS guy, and I was so confused at first.

When I first saw the Wasteland, I ran towards the direction of Megaton, missed it (You gotta admit, who the hell would think that giant metal thing was a city?), and I remember I ended up wandering aimlessly through different Metro Stations with all my ammo gone, so I was down to just punching everything. I eventually wound up at the Jefferson Memorial, and I got owned by 5 Mutants with Rifles.

I eventually got the game guide, along with me deleting my game, and restarting, following the book VERY closely.

Add in all the time I spent on DLCS, and that's one hell of a long game.

Guys! I finally just finished Dead Space! So as of this moment, it's probably the game it's taken me the longest amount of time to beat. After 2 and a half years I've finally completed a 12 hour game. :D Huzzah!

FFX-2

I started it years ago, but only beat it recently. I kept quitting for several months, then restarting because I hate picking up games mid story.

Well, there are a number of games I started playing and even to this day never actually got back to.
So like maybe fucking ten years, who knows.

Too many to count. Since I had a Gamecube as a kid, games were pretty cheap, so I could pretty easily afford to go out and get new games fairly regularly. I do want to go back and beat all of those JRPGs that I had no clue how to play, though.

Wind Waker.

I still haven't finished it because I got bored sailing around looking for the Tri-Force pieces and grinding for Rupees.

Dragon Age: Origins. 60 hours. That's only the main campaign. And I didn't even get into it! I still haven't looked up what all the stats do.

If we're talking games I've actually finished then...probably Tomb Raider III, which I got in 1998 when it came out. I always level-skipped The Lost City of Tinnos as it gave me so much grief. I didn't finish the game properly until about 2004 or 2005.

TRIII was ludicrously difficult.

Age of Mythology. I bought it some time in late 2004, played a bunch of skirmishes and multiplayer, and never touched the single player campaign...

I reinstalled it early this year and played through the single player campaign, effectively beating it.

...if I ever go back and beat Ultima 5 for the NES, though, that will top it by at least 10 years.

Ninja Gaiden for Xbox. I started it when the game was released, played it in short spurts, and didn't finish until 2008

Probably Fallout 3.

I beat the main story line in around 30, but counting Broken Steel's storyline... well, probably took me 70 hours of play time.
