The only thing that comes to mind really (I still have hope for Beyond Good and Evil 2) is Skies of Arcadia 2. I don't know how far they got into making this game but it got rumoured and then I think the team that made it split up and now work on different stuff. I had hope when Vyse, Aika and Fina all turned up in Valkyria Chronicles, but that came to nothing either (other than making the game even more awesome). Shame, I thought that there was a lot to be explored in that world.

There was a rumoured Skies of Arcadia HD re-release too, but again, that never came to anything.

Bayonetta 2, whose cancellation I'd just come to terms with before it was announced that it's being released on a system that nobody wants.

system that nobody wants.

nobody wants.

nobody
Speak for yourself, after E3 I'm sure quite a lot of people want a Wii U.

I'm more excited to play Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Super Smash Bros. and Hyrule Warriors on my Wii U then I am anything that has a solid release date on my PS4 - When Square Enix finally gets a move on and gives us a round-a-bout release date for FFXV and KH3 that might change, but for now, the only thing I'm looking forward to on my PS4 is No man's sky.

On topic: Banjo-threeie, which got canned when MS bought Rare D:

Edit: I also vaguely remember there was supposed to be a third Zelda 'Oracle' entry, to go alongside oracle of ages and oracle of seasons.

Megaman legends 3. I never enjoyed the Tronne Bonne sequel or Legends 2, and had been looking forward for a true sequel from the original team.

I also lament the loss of Prey 2. Prey was one of the last shooters I played before everything started mimicking Call of Duty, or even Halo. I remember popping in my Duke Nukem 3D disk, and finding a folder of screen shots for the upcoming game called "Prey." It looked like Quake, but it had been in concept for at least that long.

Prey 2 looked damn sweet. It actually looked like a lot of fun if it was pulled off right. Shame about that.

Last I heard about it was that it was in limbo in 2012. I think we have a better chance of seeing The Last Guardian than Prey 2.
Fear not for it left limbo to re-emerge into the light. It's currently under development at Human Head Studios [http://humanhead.com/games-prey2.html] and will be published by Bethesda.

I was also looking forward to Star Wars 1313, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and KOTOR 3 (which after became an MMO and I lost all interest in playing it)

No need to hope, it's real. Here is a (FMV) trailer [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkCXE1l5MVI]. It's currently in production at Ubisoft Montreal with Michel Ancel rightly at helm. This story is one of very few that shows Ubisoft as genuinely trying. The original BG&E was a critical success and loved by its fans (myself included) but was a financial failure. It cost more money to make than it made back in sales. Ubisoft had *no* business reason to greenlight a sequel to a game that didn't sell, none. But they did. People accuse them of sexism or whatever, yet here they are financing a game starring a (frikkin' awesome) lady in spite of the fact the prior game was a commercial failure. They are taking a huge gamble and doing so with evidence that tells them not to. They did it because Ancel's pitch was clearly good enough and they saw they had a great game, even if it didn't sell and hope to give fans what they want and the market a second chance.

Please give an example yourself when you make a topic. It's so dull to see threads where the OP puts no effort whatsoever to it.
I often do this intentionally. It puts me off many threads when I see it simply as an excuse for the OP to give their own opinion rather than genuinely seek those of others or start a discussion. It is completely valid and often better than the conceit of "Hey y'all, what do you think of x? Actually, I don't really care what you think, here's my opinion."

That original Mechwarrior V announcement had me so excited, ending up with MWO was such a disappointment.

Even though it was not a real announcement, that new that story about a new Bloody Roar also had me really excited, but it was never real in the first place :(

Well, people here have already mentioned most of the games that I was excited about. But there is one other game that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet.

inSane was supposed to be a Survival Horror game being developed by Volition Inc. in collaboration with Guillermo Del Toro. There was hardly any news on this besides a debut trailer, but the fact that Del Toro was behind it had me excited enough. Unfortunately it was being developed at the time when THQ was in massive debt, and so they had to cancel the project in August of 2012.

Del Toro still hasn't given up on it, and it's apparently still in development. However, the last news update was in November of 2012. And with no new publishers obtaining the rights, it seems unlikely that this project will be finished.

I am going to say Star Wars 1313, but only the version that they were showing off at E3 2012, not the one where Lucas said to make the main character Boba Fett. I loved the idea of playing as some unknown person in the Star Wars universe doing their best to get by in the seedy underworld of Coruscant. There was no reason why they had to change the protagonist to the most beloved minor character in the entire history of Star Wars. Dark Forces was a great game and it introduced a completely new character and went on to become a pretty solid franchise. They could have had the same thing here if they had kept up with the original premise and Disney hadn't canned the game -_-

Second, Werewolf: The Apocalypse The Heat of Gaia

From what I understood at he time, it was nearly done or actually done when the plug was pulled.
Always warms my heart to know I'm not the only person who'd been looking forward to this one. I remember it sounded like they'd had some great ideas for multiplayer - tracking by scent is the only thing which I remember clearly now, but shapechanging on the fly had a lot of potential as well.
My brothers. I share your feels.

The original Vampire was such a great game. I liked Bloodlines as well, but the scope of the original made you feel like you were apart of something.

however, I always loved the Werewolves. I remember hearing some stuff how the original idea of how to implement the game was beyond their programming knowledge. Well, we're at 2014 now. Why isn't anyone kickstarting this, especially with the Supernatural centric media we find ourselves in.

Captcha: Stinky Feet.
... Yes, Captcha. Werewolves WOULD have stinky feet...

Project Copernicus and any other potential Amalur sequels. They really should have waited till people got over skyrim before releasing it. Also, a better story would have helped :p

Captcha: "We have noticed suspicious activity related to your internet address. Please verify using your email". Really captchar? Resorting to spamming email addresses? For shame.

I was really looking forward to the world of darkness MMO. But it seems that if it isn't sci-fi, CCP doesn't want to do it.

It's a shame because if anyone could make a sandbox MMO in a style that would do justice to the World of Darkness series, it would be CCP.

Hero. The idea was tried again by many of the same people, but Project: Awakened seems to have had even less luck getting interest. It's had a couple of failed fundraising campaigns. I don't get this, because Phosphor seems more than capable of delivering quality games. They're now working on Nether.

Spore is another one. I know that a game called Spore came out, but it's not game we were promised. It's so far removed that I feel that this is a valid option.

Battlefront 3. Yes, this one will be getting a second chance at life, but now that Dice is on the job, I've lost all interest.
