What with games today being announced several years before release and advertising campaigns that rival those for films, it's all too easy for the hype surrounding certain games to reach ridculous levels, sometimes it becomes almost impossible for the game to live up to the expectations.
What game that you were eagerly anticipating dissapointed you the most?

I am disappointed by Halo (the original) and Halo 3.
I went in expecting something great, but ended up bored and thought they were both meh.
Both looked good graphically, but it really did feel like a walk and shoot everything type of game.

I will however say that I do like the online, even if it does have a bad rep of having too many little kids.
Oh and Street Fighter 4, things just felt...slower than usual

Neverwinter Nights 2 - It's good, but not as good as the first game.

Prince of Persia - too easy, too many PRESS X TO NOT DIE moments. And too short, IMO. But good story is good.

Warhammer Online - it might've been so good, if only they have waited a bit. But nooo, it's EA, let's rush the product, make 750k people buy it for $50 each and don't care about their complains. I might pay $15 now to see if it's any good.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

Not a single outstanding or even notable moment in the whole game.

It's really good example of how exclusive titles get raised far above their standing.

Hidden & Dangerous 2. Bought it on somekind of sale in London when I was visiting, installed, started the tutorial mission, and found out movement was done by the arrowkeys. I then tried to rebind stuff, but couldn't fit everything in, so I gave up.

WASD is just fine developers, okay?

Assassins Creed was supposed to be such a great game, but it ended up being the same thing over and over again. It got bland and boring after the 5th assassination, so I just stopped playing.

While Halo Wars was good, it had a criminally short story and campain because of one of the most stupidest reasons ever. They forgot to make a campain for the Covenant! My friend tells me it may come out in DLC, but i shouldn't have to pay extra money and download the missing half of a game when it should come on the fucking disk!

Unreal Tournament 3 really bummed me up. I have about 1250 registered hours on UT2004, which was really an awesome game. Somehow Epic just screwed UT3 up though, really a shame.

I agree.. When I finally got to about level 17 with my wizard, and discovered they left out the spell Time Stop!!!!!!!! I could just die :(

Why does it not surprise me that Halo is coming up in every second post?

I'm going to have to say Mario Kart Double Dash on the gamecube. By far the weakest of the series to date in my opinion. The co-op was fun, but the rest of the game with it's uninspired levels and no need to have two people on a cart in single player made it a very dull experience. It was pretty easy as well which I didn't like.

Time Stop was the single most retarded spell in Neverwinter Nights, vanilla one. Add-ons gave people Bigby spells and they were even more stupid.

Because in DnD, you can't chain link Time Stop. It's a powerful, law-breaking spell which can be cast once per few hours, even if you have more of them packed. You know how a lot of Wizard/Sorcerer duels were fought?

Time Stop -> Bigby -> Isaac's Greater Missile Storm -> Time Stop -> Isaac -> Bigby -> Time Stop -> Isaac -> Word of Power: Die. The first one to start casting won. No skill or tactic whatsoever.

Thank God you can get Disintegration only in the PRC. So you must host a server in order to duel with that spell.

Too Human was a massive disappointment for me. I played the demo and it really had potential once you got used to the controls but once I got the full game the story was horrible, Baldur moved like a boulder attached to two other boulders and the auto-aim for the guns was horrible at choosing targets.

Devil May Cry 2 and 4. Devil May Cry 2 was so disappointing. It looked promising, and the first one was great, when I finally played it was the most boring game ever. With the 4th game I felt more like cheated. Playing every stage twice is never good idea for a game, even if its with a different character.
