uncharted is already practically a movie really.

Warhammer 40000 and mass effect, though one is already being made into a movie.
I don't think I could watch a Warhammer 40k movie. If they did it wrong, I wouldn't want to watch it at all. If they did it right, I may want to kill myself from depression.

- Crysis (the protagonists being both Nomad and Psycho, each one given equal importance)
- FEAR (the original, not the sequel)
- Hitman (done right)
- Garry's Mod (yeah I went there)
- Thief
- Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
- Half-life
- Cal of Duty (just like the games, showing the plot through the eyes of more than one protagonist)
- Max Payne (done right)

Mass Effect the movie, I can see it now...... of course it would be the longest movie ever for them to be able to get in all the details, but still. Imagine it in high definition 3d.
I always thought a tv series, would fit the length of the game. Sci fi about ships and a teams of people generally work well too (firefly, stargate, farscape, battlestar etc)

Minesweeper: The Movie.

Seriously, though, I don't think anything with a Silent Protagonist such as Gordon Freeman would work that well. The best one to turn into a movie would be a game where characters you control can act similarly to NPCs during conversation and combat, so you see more of their character develop as it goes on.

Before anyone says they want a movie based on a video game, let me ask you this, DO YOU REALLY WANT A MOVIE BASED ON A VIDEO GAME?

Now im new to the escapist but im almost certain that some one has probs made this thread before but what game would you like to see as a movie?

I think a fallout 3 movie would be sweet.
Or even oblivion.

Yours?
Oblivion? Really? Wow, I always thought the story for that was weak compared to Morrowind, anyway. Interesting question, I would not mind an AVP movie. Sorry, now for a real request, Half-Life series. The fan made shizz is cool and all, but alack of Gordon does leave one empty.

Super Mario Bros!
Silent Hill!
Resident Evil!
Double Dragon!
Street Fighter!
Alone in the Dark!
House of the Dead!

These would make great movies!

EDIT: ooh ooh I have more! What about Hitman? Max Payne? Postal? Resident Evil 2? Tomb Raider? Dead or Alive? Doom? Wing Commander? Bloodrayne? These would *all* make great movies!
The sarcasm is strong with this one...
Still, I liked Silent Hill, Hitman and Doom.

OT: I want a Soul Reaver movie. Actually, I want three Soul Reaver movies to do the story justice. Failing that, I want to see it as a cartoon or anime with 13 to 26 episodes.

Explain the killing yourself bit i mean it'd be cool for sure its like the intro to dawn of war just 2 hours long.

Also i left 4 dead and gears of war would make good films on the gore factor alone.

though live action would make GOW cheesy.

The actual Warhammer story line is really, really depressing. I enjoy a downer ending, but if the whole thing was just every scene ends with "and everyone dies", I wouldn't want to watch it.

Really i think the ending would end up as "And everyone died....except the space marines who made everything else die"

Also considering its going to be a 15 and probably aimed at getting more people into it i doubt it'd be that bad.

it all depends who's writing the story really.

Maybe it could work out as well as those.... well except for firefly, talk about a short lived series. But it could be possible!

But that's the thing, in a game you can have "And the space marines killed the entire solar system" and it works because you play as them. But a movie wouldn't work unless it works out like the original storyline for the board game which may or may not have the space marines live but they will condemn every other species they see and will probably kill all humans in the area/planet/solar system/sector because they didn't conform to the church's interpretation of what the emperor wants of them. They'll also be tortured.

It's already an awesome movie which I loved, they just need to release it in theaters...lol
Yes. All they need to do is get someone playing the game in a theatre and it would pass as one of the better movies out these days.

but what are you going to do about it really? the films called ultramarines and "kill all aliens" is an easy thing to sell.

Oh, I just thought of one. I think either a Twisted Metal or Vigilante 8 movie would be epic. They'd kinda have to be cheesy, Uwe Boll-type flicks, so it's not like being made into a movie could necessarily ruin them.

Also, seeing a demon drive an armored APC through downtown Hell, Michigan, while firing rockets at a dead guy on a motorcycle would be epic lulz.
