Descent. Not freespace, the original Descents.

What other dungeon-crawler-esque game has you controlling a spaceship instead of a character?

Goldeneye for the N64, nothing changed except new graphics, new sound, maybe a bit of control tightening, but nothing else
I wonder if they could do that for Xbox Live Arcade? Just re-release it. I mean, it would be a big XBLA game, but heck, they did it with Soul Calibur. That would give it online capability too... Microsoft gets a crapload of money because nobody wouldn't buy the game, and we get Goldeneye, but with online.

While not exactly a remake, I certainly hope that the next Elder Scrolls game is based more heavily off Morrowind than Oblivion.

Things I hated in Oblivion:
Shopkeepers psychically knew whether or not items in your inventory where stolen.
Joining the Thieves Guild is not fun, and Too difficult (when compared to Morrowind, where you go and talk to the local head and join)
The world Levels up around you making leveling useless and good equipment essential.

Battlezone... Either 1 or 2 for the PC...

Mostly because there isn't anything remotely like it available.

If you haven't played it, go buy a copy off ebay or somewhere and try it out.

It's a RTS of sorts... but it also takes place in the first person. Odd combo I know, but how dedicated it's small community is should be more than enough to justify the concept.

I mean battlezone 1 was voted game of the year by someone at the time and BZ2 must not have been hyped enough because it kind of fizzled...

Space Hulk (for those who don't remember it, it was an FPS. Space Marine Terminator versus Tyranids in a ship consisting entirely of corridors.) It didn't look too pretty then, but it managed to be tense (heart attack inducingly so), so a new lick of paint and updated gameplay mechanics might be in order. Also, not so much a remake, but I'd love to see a sequel of Evil Genius...

Definately Xenogears, I awaited with such high hopes, only to be let down so hard with Xenosaga. Final Fantasy 6 would be my top choice for a remake, it was my 1st favorite RPG.
Would love to see something done with Vagrant Story, maybe a sequal? And Vigilante8, which I thought was better than the Twisted Metal series...

I guess I'll jump onto the 'Morrowind with Oblivion combat' wagon though really I'd like to see a certain kind of remake of Arena, without the random generation and everything being uniquely designed like in the later games. However, as the game took place in the entire Empire rather than just a province this would probably require many years to create.. Too many for any publisher to feel secure about, most likely.

Edit: Actually I'd just like a new Elder Scrolls game set in the entire empire.

i would love to see a remake of the nes game deadly towers....only make it not suck
How would you go about accomplishing this impossible feat?
I mean the game is made of suck. Taking the suck out of deadly towers would be like taking the logs out of the log cabin. You're not left with much.

I opened this topic just to post about Descent, but you beat me to it ^_^ I still think it has one of the best arsenals of any series... that Guidebot from Descent 2 can go die in a reactor breach though >_> Making your escape in that series was so intense...

I'd absolutly love Valkyrie Profile on the PS3. The original was bloody amazing, and the fact that a lot of people haven't had the chance to play it make me sad. Bump up the graphics, but keep everything else the same, don't mess with something already amazing.

I'm surprised nobody has said Mother 3. Bring it to the DS, 3d graphics, maybe voice-overs. There's rumors about all three coming out for DS, but hey, even if it's only M3, as long as it comes out in countries other than Japan, I'm happy.

Does an remake have to be the same as the original. I think not. they should remake FF7 and add in new areas to explore. twist the story up a little. show the life of some of the other characters with a different perspective. new bosses. sure amazing graphics would be a plus. but there are other things they could do to great game to make it better.
Enough of that though. Anyone remember "the Legend of Dragoon" they should totally remake that RPG. I think it was made by square Enix. It came out on the playstation 1 im pretty sure around the same time as final fantasy 7 actually. that game was so great i beat it like ten time so i could have a different team with different moves everytime. please let there be a remake.
Hell yes. That was an awesome RPG with a really brilliant combat system.

As far as remakes go Myth and Marathon. As long as Bungie doesn't screw that up.

I'd like them to re-make the Knight of The Old Republic games, especially the second one. Would be awesome to play through the KOTOR's with current-gen graphics, no bugs/glitches the missing content restored and with less of the infernal loading screens.

Hmm,
I'd love to see Tombi remade.
They wouldn't need to change anything, just make more copies of the game available so I can find one for under £100.

Also I'd love to see the Game boy zelda games re-made for DS.
Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Time, Links Awakening.
They were truly awesome games.

A properly-translated version of Legend of Dragoon.

Hell, a game like that would be amazing with good graphics!
