If you could create a sequel/reboot to a video game, ANY video game, what one would you make? What would it be like, etc... (plot/setting/gameplay/etc...)

You are the game director, you have the entire original team that made the first game. you don't program, etc... you tell them what you want, etc... and they tailor it to your specifications, with your constant input.

Mine would be a next-gen daggerfall reboot, with todd howard working as co-director.
same setting and story, but guild quest would have a story line, character creation would be similar to daggerfall with custom-class-creation and advantages/disadvantages but build off a modified version of skyrim's creation engine. this would allow moddders to create custom content, but I still want it to have the feel that daggerfall did: difficult, gothic, immersive, and unforgiving.

what's yours?

A sequel to Half Life 2. I'd call it Half Life 3.

/thread.

But in all seriousness, I'd redo the second Deus Ex game to make it as good as the other two. You can't have a series with one shitty installment and two good ones. It just seems really weird to me.

Dark Age of Camelot - Keep the same structure of the original, but even just an upgraded engine would be straight wicked.
Descent: Freespace - I'd gather up the original team and just say, "Go nuts." Though I wouldn't mind if they added in some RPG elements to the game.

Soulbringer.

I love the game, but I can admit that it's got some really good ideas that are heavily countered by some pretty deep flaws. The seculorum and melee combat work just fine, if they could do something about the ranged combat, make Air spells worthwhile enough to imbalance toward, and fix the stilted motion while keeping the great-looking motion capture...

I've said this plenty of times: Metal Arms: Glitch in the System.
Sadly, it shall never see the light of day.

I'd like to remake some of the FPS titles from the mid/late 90's like Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Dikatana, etc. I don't remember if it was an FPS but Shadows of the Empire would also be great if it was remade.

Also, I'd love to see Zelda 2: Link's Adventure be remade into a JRPG similar to Tales of Phantasia.

Legacy of Kain.

I have a feeling it would be all "god of war-y", in terms of game play. Not a bad thing but that's how I see it going.

A sequel to Grim Fandango would be pretty high on my list.

Also, to go back to some old-school games - a real sequel to Syndicate that keeps the same gameplay style (not like the barely-related FPS they're doing, as promising as it may be), and a sequel to UFO: Enemy Unknown, aka X-COM: UFO Defense. I know they gave the rights to some Czech Rep. developer and they had a run with it, but it just wasn't the same. A modern version of that game would be awesome.

The Quest For Glory series. It has very linear tight scripting with just enough RPG elements to give it replay value and stretch out game time, and recent Bioware games have become cinematic and linear to the point where they are basically that same system.

Mark of Kri/Rise of the Kusai. It had a combat system that flowed really well while you took on multiple enemies, an art style that was creative and interesting, and the ground work for a multiplayer game that looked like it could have been a lot of fun if given the chance. I'd like to see another game in this series.

Evil Genius due to the base building and world domination and Homeworld due to the 3 dimensions of movement in a stratergy game.

Take a look at Xenonauts, due next year:

On topic, I'd definitely do a sequel to Vanquish. Single-player only.

I'd also reboot Paradroid. Awesome concept that needs to be done asap, Jester Interactive.

Psychonauts, if I remember correctly Tim Schafer said he's interested too.
