We all can find ourselves complaining about how we spent money on a game that sucks and didn't need to be made in the first place, and some of us assume it is because game design is a long and ardous process with very little expected monetary awards [footnote]the rest just assume that the developers were fucktards and that they should be hanged[/footnote], and so with that being complained about I ask you what game would you make,[footnote]hoping that this kind of post hasn't been made already[/footnote]

Poll is very counter-productive. But, the game I would design, whatever premise it had, would essentially let you do whatever you think you should be able to do. A game like "Metal Gear Solid 4" is game as such.

I would take the skill and ability to solve fightes with any type character ideas from Deus Ex and VTM:B add a story about you being a new supervillan, and then put you in a Saints Row 2 type world. Fight the super heroes and other super villans to claim your place at the top.

ummmm now thanks to you I'll never make a game about pie.
but I'm studying game design in college right now so I have a few ideas.

one is a possible trilogy that would take roughly 7 pages to properly explain but I guess I could say it's a mixture of Devil may cry, Zelda, Star fox, and kingdom hearts, all set in a world where the technology has allowed the entire universe to be explored and science turns it's sites to the supernatural as well as inter-dimensional rifts (though due to many plot twists it's revealed that that may not be the truth)

my other game is a fantasy story on backwards where you play as a corrupt sorcerer and gain power to rule the entire known world. (again the storyline makes it a bit deeper than that.)

another takes place in a second person perspective. the main character is blind but has clairvoyance (psychic sight abilities) so she is capable of seeing through the eyes of enemies, animals, and technology.

my final (complete) idea is an open world adventure game where the main character can drain abilities from organisms as well as machines and inanimate objects (starts with living things, but can increase variety after beating bosses) in order to track down his family... I'm most proud of the ending for this one.

If I made a game, it'd be something like Ratchet and Clank or some sort of FPS/Adventure game.

I would center it around the raising of the Spartan-II's and let you create your own Spartan and what their battle proficiency would be. You know, like Alpha Protocol but not shit.

I would make a sequel to the game "Arcanium: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura" or even an updated 3D version of the original game that's been properly balanced would be great too.

A single player zombie apocalypse game where you have to make alot of choices to protect your family. Where to take them, where to hide, whether to kill your wounded children or take them as extra burden. There would be like 9 different endings depending on your choices and your choices would really shine through in each ending.

I had more something like halo like gameplay in mind set in a new kind of universe

I want to make an RPG, but with more engaging combat. Something like the dungeon crawling combat in Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, but more complex. Perhaps combat in real-time that requires more skill (maybe Bloodlines Champions style). Of course it'd be tailored to a single-player experience. Enemies would have obvious "tells" indicating what they're about to do, giving the player time to react appropriately or prepare (shield someone? Preemptive cast on a large heal?). The game would be challenging in that the AI of both allies and enemy would have to be rock solid. Stupid AI would ruin combat (sometimes dumb AI annoyed me in Star Ocean: The Second Story, for example, but overall they did a good job). Enemy AI would have to be logical and reactive as opposed to random or repeating.

I'd like to throw extra budget at the writing team. I'd like to make sure my game had those little touches that really add to it, like Earthbound's little quirks and dialog hilarities. I'd like to have a love story develop over the entire game; and, one that doesn't suck, at that.

Where the Space Marines aren't so squishy, maybe around the Horus Heresy time period.
