What game would you want to play again for the first time?

My first special game was Sonic 2. It's surely something I'd like to relive, but I think I'd like to replay Arkham Asylum and City again without prior story knowledge.

Probably either Super Mario 64, Saints Row The Third, or Pokemon Silver. Super Mario 64 and Pokemon Silver for how much fun I had with those games growing up, and Saints Row The Third simply because I never got a proper first time with the series, and had much of it spoiled for me before playing.

I want to say Skyrim because it's my favourite game but I think I have to go with Bastion.

It was such an emotional journey that hit me really hard the first time I played it. Absolutely brilliant from start to finish.

Fuck, just one?

Jesus, that's rough. I'm inclined to say Portal 2, or maybe one of the Half-Life games (Because, for me, there is not one single gameplay experience in the universe more fun than NOT KNOWING whether the weapons cache in that locked room is guarded by a Headcrab.), but I'm not sure. If I could pick more than one:

Entire HL series, including Portal (But I would leave behind notes for myself explaining the names of enemies.)

Entire Mass Effect series.

Fable: The Lost Chapters, but only if I could like, reboot my brain to childhood mode.

Either Bioshock or Deadly Premonition.

Bioshock because... well, Bioshock. Who wouldn't want to experience the magic of Rapture for the first time again?

Deadly Premonition, because it's a looong game, and the intrigue and novelty of the game make the whole thing more bearable. I often found myself going into deep analysis of the clues given to me during the long, boring car rides, attempting to discover who the killer is. I still love the game, but playing through it and already knowing the whole thing... well, the game's shortcomings become a lot more prominent. But that mystery... it had me guessing up unto the very end, and I loved every minute of it. Oh, and I was always looking forwards to the next sequence where I would talk to the characters; I don't think that there was a single character in Deadly Premonition that I didn't love.

To all the people in this thread, rejoice in the fact that your brain will forget a lot of details over time... It's not quite the same as playing it for the first time, but playing a game you haven't played in... lets say two decades will probably have a similar experience.

All the snes/ genesis RPGs were pretty fun: Shining in the darkness, shining force 1 and 2, FF4 and FF6 and the Phantasy Star games. Also Super Metroid and Megaman X.

Halo 1, Need For Speed Underground 1, Skyrim, Dark Souls and Dragons Dogma.

I'm gonna say Mercenaries 1, because it took me a long time of chipping away at it to discover all it's layers and realise what an absolute masterpiece it was- so if I could play it for the first time again now and instantly 'get it' this time, that would be great.

There are few hells I would not go through to re-experience Fate/Stay Night for the first time. Especially now that I'm not an emotional zombie anymore. I'd have to go reenter hell again with Heaven's Feel, but worth it.
I second this,F/SN was goddamn awesome, specially UBW and HF,sadly i had a few twists spoiled before i actually played it
I can think of a few games like this, such as:

Saya no Uta:same as F/SN,i had a few twists spoiled, but the eperience was awesome nonetheless

Oblivion and other bethesda games:these games are much awesomer on your first playtrough of them, because you don't know the right path and where to go at the start of the game, and how to exploit them and shit

Mass Effect 1

Tales of Symphonia:this game has not aged well, but it was soooo epic back in its day,i hope they do an updated rerelease or something, like what they are doing on the Vita

Castlevania Harmony of Despair:The sense of growth, learning curve, that feeling of badassness when you beat that asshole boss who kept killing you,the sense of companionship when you give your buddy one of your potions,or rush to his aid and do a Big damn heroes moment were much stronger when you played the first time
Captcha:patience child

Red Dead Redemption, the deserts and planes have lost a certain amount of charm has been lost considering the fact that I've put roughly 17 thousand hours into the game, but that first time around it was amazing, the only game where I felt if the main character and I weren't around the world would go on. Sure you end up fucking up a lot of peoples days, and you end up playing a rather large part in Mexican politics, but I felt if John Marston never showed up the world and all the people in it would never have noticed and gone about their lives.
Excellent call. RDR is another game I'd add to my list.
