Driving games (if i wanna drive, i'll get in my car)
I guess I had never thought about it but being a non-driver (I never had any reason to learn to legally operate a motor vehicle...sober...) probably effects my skills at driving games.

Good:
FPS's - Once I get a feel for an FPS I can usually kick some ass; depends on the game and could either mean two hours or two weeks for more complex shooters, that goes for any variant of Fpses
Strategy - pretty good, but with strategy it takes time to get a strategy that works and you need to get ass kicked the whole time your getting one that works.
Racing - Only racing games I've ever played have been GT2, GT3 and GT4, oh and Episode 1 pod racer which is oddly addicting.
Space Combat Sims - I've been all over those since Tie-Fighter, I'm playing X3 right now
Rpgs.....I know, How can I be good at Rpgs? I played Diablo II on Hardcore until level 70

Bad:
Sports games - any and all - except world cup soccer for Nintendo
Click adventure games - text based Rpges I always miss something... - except Full Throttle

The Good List:
RPG's- I'm patient enough to hang around and muddle my way through them
Shooters- For the most part if I'm given an hour or two to get used to it, I'll be able to pick up a shooter
RTS's- This actually depends on how the game is set up; if I am alone against an enemy on the hardest setting, then I'm probably going to die miserably, but if I'm on a team and someone is there to take the hits for me for a while, then I'll come out like a bandit and steal victory.
Platformers- I dunno why, but I just happen to be able to do them well enough.

The Medicore List:
Simulation- I can't seem to pick up on simulation games beyond the basics, just enough to not be called shitty.
Racing- Same a simulation.
Fighting- I get up to a point, and crash into mediocrity.

The Bad List?:
I'm not really bad at any games, but I'd say that I'm ferpect at the games I said I was good at.

I am bad at,bad games.....

Now with that said the only thign I have trouble with is the "neo" fighter games(new 3D style) the kind that have 20 mini moves for 1 charatcer,it just dose not compute with me, I can handle soul cabiler because it dose not bore me to death but tekken/doa with their almost purest realistic martial arts spew is maddening to the point of boredom.

I would say that I am rather decent at following genres:
RPG
MMO (Although like someone pointed out succeeding with these ones partially depends
on how much time you got, but I tend to grasp the idea and adapt to new situations rather quick at least.)
FPS
RTS
Stealth-like-thingies
Puzzle games

Although I'm not too good at:
Sport games
Driving games (I usually can not beat higher difficulties at those anyhow.)
3rd person shooters
Sims (They are unbelievably boring, I can not stand playing them.)

I'm more good at specific games than entire genres, though it seems that I can be bad at entire genres though lol. Here's the list.
Good
Some FPS (Halo, Bioshock)
Free-roaming, 3rd person sorta games (Dead Rising, Crackdown, GTA)
Splinter Cell games (not stealth in general cause I'm rubbish at Metal Gear)
RPG
Guitar Hero (but not rhythm games ie DDR)

Mediocre/Average
Other shooters (Counter Strike, GRAW, Rainbow Six)

Just Plain Bad
RTS
Fighting
Racing
Sport

Good: most fps, especially battlefield type games. There was a time I was usually topranked with cod:uo ( great expansion btw ), but those days are gone. I'm a "casual gamer" now so I only play now and then. I'm also pretty decent at building games like settlers or more currently I'm working on getting better with civ4. Although I'm hardly good with that, not half bad either :)

Bad: pretty much every rts game except warcraft III custom games. If you're ever bored on lan with some friends, go play some wc3 hero maps guys. Great fun :) I just don't have the time or interest to learn every hotkey, map, buildorder, etc to get good at these games. RPG I'm pretty bad at, but I never play these for the same reason as rts games these days. Time investment is way to high.

In general I prefer games I can hop into, kill things or pick it up and play ok. Alot of other games need time investment which I despise.

Good:
RPGs ( These give me great pleasure )
FPSs
Racing games
Quests/Action Adventure

Bad:
Online FPSs (Such as TF 2)
MMOs (Just too much grind (except Tabula Rasa I like that (And Auto Assault God rest it's soul)))
And reflex stuff

So does that mean your thumbs lack dexterity, or are you just bad at them because console games are harder for you?

I'm pretty good at most computer games, probably due to the amount of time I spend playing...
but I am particularly bad at Racing games.
and not to take this off topic, but I really hate sports games, I'm not too bad at them, although I'm also not too good, but I just tend not to play as hard as I would, due to the fact I don't really find myself captivated with them as I would with most different types of games, probably due to lack of story... although, I'm terribly addicted to drunk Wii Tenis (although I'm terrible when sober)

I'm REALLY bad at PC Fps's.

Im not as bad as i was, but i grew up on consoles, and i just cant swing PC Fps to save my life.

Singleplayers fine, but on multiplayer everyone zips around everywhere and i end up looking at the ceiling while i'm melee'd to death.

I also suck major at Shadowrun on the 360, just cant get the hang of it.

Otherwise, i can hold my own at most things.

i am terrible at RTS versus Real players though.
Amazing versus the PC, i use the Rock-paper-scissors strat perfectly, and box them in with like, 6 units.

This doesnt work on the online "RUSHRUSHRUSH" consensus, which quickly swarms me.

It means console games are dumb.

HA!

No, just kidding. It's really a hardware thing more than the games themselves, although at least prior to the current generation of console hardware I don't think there's any question there was a very real distinction between PC and console games; but I just don't get how people can play FPS titles or driving sims or that sort of thing with a friggin' gamepad. How can a rinky-dink little thumbstick match the speed and precision of a good mouse? I'm not looking to start another round of the endless PC-console debate (and I won't take part if it does happen) but the relative lack of precision in a controller is too frustrating to bother with.

And to address the original question a bit more seriously: I kick much ass at FPSs and RPGs, and I used to be a pretty good sim jock, although I haven't picked up anything new in the flying or driving department for some years now. I don't think there's any specific genre I really, truly blow at, but I just don't have the patience for the vast majority of the other genres. I'll play through an FPS even if it never elevates itself above merely decent, for instance, but to get all the way through an RTS is has to be something really special - Homeworld and Dune 2 are the only ones that come to mind. I detest platformers, but I'm working my way through the torturous yet irresistible Psychonauts - and believe me, I wouldn't put up with this kind of crap for anything less than sheer genius.

I guess if you want to see me embarrassing myself with something I'm truly bad at, make me play PGR on the Xbox. I got sucked into an afternoon of that over at a friend's house this summer, and, long story short, it was a relief all around when they finally told me to just stop and give the controller to someone else.

Good

Fighting games
RPGs
Racing Games
FPS (unless it makes me feel nauseous)

Decent

Puzzles (depending on type)
RTS games
Racing games

Bad

Sports games (don't really interest me)
MMORPGs

I just got Orange Box a couple of days ago, and now that I know your completion time for Portal is posted on Steam, I'm a little nervous to break it out.
