What Games Character Should I Go As?

Hope I have posted in correct discussion group but here goes.

I am going to a fancy dress party in 2 months and the theme is games characters. I want some suggestions that are not too cliche but are feasible to make within a limited budget of say $60.

At the moment I'm thinking about Lakitu, Salvador "Sal" Limones from Grim Fandango or Duke Nukem although feel that might be very easy. Your imput is appreciated!

Or go as Sackboy. The costume would be hard to make but it'd be worth it.

Well, what do you look like mate? You don't have to post a pic if you don't want, but a description would make it a bit easier.

Off the top of my head, I'd shoot for one of the Team Fortress characters.

Two words: Street fighter (Balrog has easiest/most inexpensive getup)

Three words: any sport game

I would go as Altair, if I could find the right stuff. You wouldn't be able to get knives and swords and stuff but the robe and stuff won't be too hard.

Alternately, Mario. Overalls, red shirt, white gloves, maybe brown shoes, a mustache, and the hat of course. The hat you might have to make, but that can't be too hard.

Yeah, anyone could go as a Spy, complements of a balaclava. Well, everyone except me. I'd have to go as a DemoMan. Not just cos I'm black, but, you know, how often do you get to be that cool?

I'd Try Gordan freeman for the realtive simplicty or Setzer from FF6 because he's just badass
