What games currently have the most players online?

I have a couple hundreds to splurge on video games (haven't touched my consoles in years). I'm mainly going for multiplayer games (for replay value) and RPG games (because I enjoy them, damn it!).

When it comes to multiplayer games I'm going for the Xbox 360 versions, since I want L4D2 and Gears of War 2 anyway and they're both exclusive to the 360 console (PC can't play it). So I was wondering, how are these games doing in terms of players online?

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Black Ops
Gears of War 2
Grand Theft Auto IV
Halo: Reach
Left 4 Dead 1/2
Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Zombies
Uncharted 2

On both PS3 and 360.

Just my guess though, considering my brother and all his friends play the hell out of it.

RDR is pretty boring online, its alot like a MMORPG, lots of repeative grind. Great story mode though. Black Ops is the most popular, look at the Fucking numbers Mason! Black Ops is also repeative, shoot, shoot, reload, die and get T-bagged. Multiplayer is boring in my opinion overall. Unless your playing with fun mature people, unstead of a ADD nine year old, who never stops playing and never stops inhaling sugar, because thats the demographic for FPS multiplayer.

What you seem to forget is this is the PC only figures you took straight from steam, this does not track the hundreds of thousands of players that play Black Ops on either PS3 or Xbox 360.

CS:S only has PC. In the big picture Black Ops still has a player base that shits all over that of CS:S

Are you sure? On the PS3 alone?

Yep. It alternates between 45 to 51 thousand. And the community is often spread across all game modes rather than just deathmatch, and across DLC maps or default ones. Two reasons why: it's pretty good damn fun online and the trophies require a lot of work to get, like "capture 200 gold idols" in their version of capture the flag, or "get 7 Triple Kills", triple kills being the holy grail in Uncharted 2 multiplayer...

True that. CS:S has had a lot stronger more consistent player base where as Black Ops will loose the largest part of its community in less then a year. I should have remembered that when I first made my observations.

That's why Black Ops is going to be dead in less than a year, and Counter Strike Source today has 10x the competitive community your pathetic Black Ops will ever dream to have.

This Fall, get at me, tell me how much money you spent on the next reskin of Black Ops released as a "completely" new game and I'll tell you how much I spent on CS:S years ago.

Last time i checked (a couple of days ago) the PS3 version had around 500,000 players online playing the game.

Maybe, it has something to do with your NAT settings.
