Well? I think Half-Life would actually translate pretty well to the big screen as would Zelda. Phoenix Wright would make a good animated show. Anyway, I know a lot of video game movies end up sucking but just pretend that that wasn't the case. :p

I've always wanted to see a Fallout movie, I imagine it would be a great movie, but that's just dreaming.

Team Fortress 2.
Battlefield.
Halo (dare I say it)

And I would actually like to see a Counter-Strike movie. If done correctly, it could be pretty cool.

I think that if someone made a movie based soley around Half Life 2 it would be amazing. Imagine how cool the Vortigaunts would look, my only thing that would be a drawback is that they would certainly ruin the character of Alyx Vance by making the actress who plays her extravagnatly hot instead of just everyday pretty.
But still a Half Life movie would be pretty sweet if the story is given forth in an organic way and if Gordon has a Vortigaunt named Schlek as a sidekick.

(P.S: HAH I bet you all thought I was going to say Halo, I am not that predicatable!)

Fallout
Monkey Island
Mafia

Those would be amazing, Mafia wouldn't even be that hard as it plays out like a film already.

Half life movie would be bad. 2 options: Either the lead role never says a word, making the movie bad. Or they make him speak to make the movie work, while pissing off the gamers. Either way, its a fiasco.

The phoenix wright movie would most likely be one big lawsuit wouldnt it? *yawn*

Try the Mad Max movies. Since thats what Fallout is originally based off. Maybe a new Mad Max movie might be a good idea?

I dunno. An Ace Attorney show would get old pretty fast. A movie on the other hand could work quite nicely.

Any game can be made into a decent film if handled with the correct approach. For example, FF: Advent Children, and also The Spirits Within, were both films based on the series and were alright because they were handled in the right way (the developers making the films themselves also helped). The Resident Evil films were pretty good too, because Paul W.S. Anderson, who wrote the screenplays and directed the first one, looked at the games and although adding his own stuff (like Alice) to the mix, they stayed true to the feel of the games and were filmed with the fans of the games in mind. He said as much himself after each film was released, and I agree, as a fan of the game series and the films.

However, people like Uwe Boll don't handle them correctly, or are simply no good at making films, so they don't end up making good films of games. As I say, any game can be made into a good film if handled correctly. If someone like Peter Jackson (who was incidentally linked to both the Halo and Bioshock movie adaptations) was to turn round and make a film based on Bloodrayne or Alone in the Dark, then it would have all the potential of being a great movie. If Paul W.S. Anderson had filmed Dead or Alive, then that could have been excellent too. The right approach is all that matters, and that's all that ever has mattered in film making. The choice of game is then irrelevant, apart from obvious things (like, how is it possible to turn WoW or something like Pong/Tetris/etc. into a film?).

I say Warhammer 40k. It's that big of a universe so there is gotta be something to make a movie out of.

I don't think anyone is actually reading the OP. It asks: "What games deserve to be made into a movie?" not "What games would make a good movie?".

"Deserve" in this case I assume to mean, having good enough qualities for someone to want it to be a movie.

Duke Nukem. It could simultaneously spoof the whole genre of videogame movies, while also doing what it was intended for: spoofing goofy, poorly acted action movies.

That's what I meant when I said that the Monkey Island series should be made into films.

There are very few games bad enough to "deserve" that sort of punishment. Hollywood would simple butcher any good concept, turn it to s**t and sell it to fanboys.

In theory, assuming it was done well, a game (series) like Fallout could make a great film/s.

games being made into movies never work. resident evil extinction was ok but thats it
Silent Hill and both Final Fantasy films were good
final fantasy was cgi so i didnt count them. and i thought silent hill was boring and the original game had a better story.

by the way i like your avatar pic. very funny
