I got Alpha Protocol the other day, despite many people saying it was buggy as hell and not fun but even though they said that, I am having a blast with it. Currently I have not ecountered a single-bug and the gameplay seems perfectly fine to me.

So what games did you first hear where bad but still enjoyed them?

Hmmm FF13 to an extent.

I'd heard it was linear and repetitive, which it is, but I still had fun with it and I go back to play a few more hours every now and then in between Reach sessions.

Fallout New Vegas. I had heard it wasn't even worth playing because of all the bugs but I only ran into one or two while I was playing it.

Nier and Deadly Premonition. Fortunately, I only read/watch reviews that give information about a game rather than just an opinion. Found only negative reviews of both games, but they mentioned enough interesting things that I decided to give them a shot. Absolutely love both of them.

Alpha Protocol for me too. It wasn't the greatest game in the world, but it was cheap and I got a few play throughs out of it. Plus, the conversation system was pretty cool and unique.

After Yahtzee's bashing of Enslaved, I gave it a shot and was suprised to find that I didn't agree with basically anything he said about it.

Halo 3

It certainly wasn't the best game I ever played but I found it to be a mechanically solid, thoroughly fun shooter with some really cool epic landscapes and battles.

Castevania LOS isn't perfect but it didn't deserve the verbal assraping it got from Yahtzee. I played it and found it fun for the most part.

Another vote for Alpha Protocol here.
Really fun, a few bugs, maybe, but the scope and amusement factor outweigh them.
The only thing I cannot forgive is the boss fights. FUCK THE BOSS FIGHTS IN THAT FUCKING GAME RSRASRARARWASRARARAWRASRHAWLERAW

Most notably, the first assassins creed after being over hyped by most media was shat on for repetitive side quests and mediocre storyline. I bought it anyway and enjoyed the hell out of it.

Unreal Tournament (the first one) was something I didn't hear bad reviews about, but after playing a lot of Quakes 1 through 3 and Unreal I'd decided it really wasn't something that should go multiplayer. How wrong I was. I got the UT demo to give a little variety to my playing of the Quake 3 demo... and I never looked back. Morpheus, you are a god among levels and I STILL can't believe they took you out of UT3.

Quake 2 got me playing multiplayer. UT got me enjoying multiplayer.

I very much agree Alpha Protocol is a very fun game and didn't deserved the flak it got.

Come to think of it, if the game had just a little more polish it could of bettered Mass Effect 2 in the RPG stakes.

Saints Row 2. Just took the plunge 2 years ago and really liked it. I don't know why the media hated it for the graphics and awful AI, the package itself was extremely fun for me and gave me more customization than the Sims 2.

And it barely ever pretended to be anything fancy or immersive - it was shenanigans at a video-game level - which is what most games should be in all honesty.

Killzone 2. I found that the reason people bitched about the game because you ACTUALLY HAD TO PLAY THE GAME LONGER THAN 10 minutes to be good at it. I actualy pushed through playing through (eve though I constantly got raped by vets) and now I have just recieved the medal for top 3-6% in the world for 3 weeks in a row.

I find myself playing it more often than other shooters because you'll never have a bad game (even against the best of people) if you yourself are good. I rarely got those off days (that are often in COD) where one gae you rape all that oppose you than the next you can't kill for sh*t.

I encourage you guys to try it (again) and this time put the effort into trying to learn the game.

While it was nowhere near as good as the original, it still was an extremely fun game while it lasted and it had some rather fun multiplayer as well.

-Halo 3: ODST
Screw all those whiners who piss and moan about it "being too short" and how it "should have been an expansion pack." It still had an amazing campaign topped off by what has become one of my absolute favorite video game soundtracks, with the ever so fun Firefight mode thrown in for good measure.

Mirrors Edge

It was short, the story was a little weak and they could have involved more things (eg the bags and the other runners) but I still liked it and found it a breath of fresh air.

Oblivion (to a certain degree)

Maybe it's because I've never even touched Morrowind but as far as I could see there was very little wrong with Oblivion, besides the obvious levelling issue.
