Since English is not my mother tongue many games I played that had either talk bubbles or spoken language in them thought me some of that and then of course some history from some games and the Warcraft World Editor thought me some editing skills in that program of course :)

Well in recnet years i look at pokemon with a much more mathematical eye and consider not only super effective attacks but the possibly difference in stats. i.e.
Geodude has hige defense but average special defense, use a non physical attack.
And then you throw in EV training, IV breeding, and natures.

I don't actually remember learning anything from games but apparently I learned how not to die in the event of high speed landing which only came about because there's a steep hill near my house which basically leads to the rest of the town, so now and then in summer me and my mate go cycling. Then one day as we peaked out of speed down the hill a kid jumped out in front of me while not paying attention and I caught my front wheel under a fence and popped off the bike head first towards the paving slabs and then for some reason I saved it with a dive roll and slide, which while being awesome, hurt a little more than you'd think. It also awestruck the parents of said child who where there at the time because I'm not exactly the type you'd see pull that kind of move as I am quite weighty.

To this day I have never replicated or really wanted to replicate that day and I'm not sure if I could.

Like Erana I generally know things and stupid facts I have no actual interest in before I play a game where they are presented to you, like the fact that the first man made object to break the sound barrier was the whip, true story.

Leisure Suit Larry taught me that you always wrap it. Especially with the ladies on whom cheap pick-up lines work.

I learned a good number of japanese words and a good deal about japanese culture through the persona games, especially 3. As an american it was quite a treat and even inspired me to take japanese culture and politics classes at college. nicely done, Atlus!

The total war series taught me more about history and Assassins creed taught me Italian and not to trust Templars.

I learned to escape being trapped in a small bathroom by using various nearby objects in a way to make a makeshift handle.

Thanks point-and-click adventure games!

Um... people seem to be posting stuff that they _think_ they learned, but that isn't necessarily accurate...lol

Duke Nukem : Manhattan Project...
Why the surprised look on your face? It kick started off my english language, I learned more from it in a week than from a year of having sub lessons of english back in Poland. (I'm Polish...duh)

Also, Riddle78, You win at life for being one of the few people I know who know about the Gothic series, the first two games at least.

Rome: Total War with the EB mod comes to mind; the unit and building descriptions were interesting. I also learned about aspects of the Roman army's organisation that we didn't look at in Ancient History, since we covered the empire, not the republic.

STALKER - About Chernobyl a little, since I didn't know anything about it before that game.
Delta Force Black Hawk Down - Well, Black Hawk Down, obviously.
GTA: SA - It is possible to take off a prostitute's head with the back wheel of a motorcycle, in slow-mo, but it is extremely hard to do again.
