I cannot comment for other people, but I will generally pre-order a game if it offeres something extra over the retail release, or more commonly, is cheaper than the retail release. It has to be something that I will buy and use as soon as it's available, otherwise I will generally wait for the retail to come down in price.

You made me double check Amazon and Play, but no it isn't out. Not in the UK anyway.

EDIT: Just to weigh in on the "why pre-order?" thing; I like getting games I want to play as soon as they're released, and they're cheaper online than they are in the shops. Pre-order guarantees day one delivery and the internet has the best deals, so there's no reason not to.

Man, there are so many of these topics, and I reply to every single one.

I have Pokemon Black pre-ordered. When I go to get that, I'll put a pre-order on Dynasty Warriors 7. I definitely will be pre-ordering Catherine, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Okamidan. I'm eyeing up a few others, but these are my definite buys.

But thats the thing unless its cheaper which almost never happens you dont get anything. All teh EB games that I know of give out the preorder bonuses even if you didnt preorder the game.

There you hit on a common problem, it's still being treated like a retail purchase, on steam you can preorder and various online shops will let you preorder and it can be cheaper, if it isn't cheaper or includes something special, it's not worth the preorder.

Will pre-order Mass Effect 3. I'm usually too poor to buy games when they first come out, but I have to make an exception here. At least 3 of my colleagues are going to pre-order it too, and I will not be able to cope with hearing them talk about it and not be able to play it!
