I have a friend who believes that any game that isn't made by EA Sports or Infinity Ward is shite, regardless of whether he's played them or not. He once told me that Halo sucked because of how unrealistic it was. That was like arguing with a brick wall made of hate.

As soon as my brother saw I had bought King Kong (the game) he remarked "Well that was a waste of money." Oh boy was he wrong! I'm not sure I've ever spent better money.

My friend used to disregard every single fighting game as "mindless button mashers". Which I guess they can be... But still, he hadn't played them.
Changed his mind through Mortal Kombat though. Admittedly, we just mash buttons, but I showed him it's fun, so it's cool.

Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty. Argument: Too many guns, too little melee.

I was trying to get my friend to join me in APB and he said it'd probably be shit.

3 hours gameplay later I realised he was right.

Though given how long I spent trying to get him to play League of Legends ("DotA is better. I mean, LoL doesn't have denying"), followed by him spending the entirety of the time (a few months) since playing it solid, I think we're even. He may have failed his A-Levels because of it...

I guess that means he prefers fantasy or historical RTSes? ;P

For me, it's any Bioware game.

Reason? Bad graphics or too much talking.

So what's a good RPG for you?

Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Alice: Madness Returns, Halo: Reach, Resistance 3, Black Ops, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Gears of War 3...I could go on, but you get the idea. I have a friend that basically has a complaint about EVERY game that is coming out before it comes out. His argument usually runs the line of, "It's not original." He then goes into a very detailed list of exactly what he wants--which normally turns it into a completely different game. It gets tiring at times. He firmly believes that there should only be one game in any series, and after that be done with it. Naturally, the sole exception to this rule is Battlefield 3. I've yet to hear him say one bad thing about that upcoming game, which baffles my mind.

My favorite part is that he bugs me to let him borrow them after I beat them. I flat out refuse to do it now.

Another one that came to mind: Team Fortress 2

He only watched the F2P trailer and this is his response (as interpreted by me):

"Where is the ADS? why is their no perks? That dude double jumped, it must be a hack."

-________________________________-!

FYI: He has a Xbox 360 and the only game he plays is CoD: BO.

Metro 2033, a friend of mine was making fun of it after I made a legitimate complaint about a game he liked that I played.

Yeah, he is more of a fantasy/anime type of guy.

Example: he has never been on the Escapist!

This is going quite a way back now to when I first got my 360 and I was telling a friend (a PS3 fanboy) how cool BioShock was and he completely dismissed it saying, 'That sounds lame'. Then when it was announced for the PS3, he was all over it. 'Have you seen BioShock is coming out on PS3, it looks amazing!' Then again thats a typical fanboy...

Friends looked at me funny when i mentionted that i enjoy the Ace Attorney Series.
Or that i was playing a yugioh game on the gba, because the card-came aspect is quite enjoyable to kill some time.
That's because it's Yu-Gi-Oh...*totally isn't an elitist Magic player*...
yeah sure. but the gameplay is still fun if you give it a try. i tried magic a few times, but it's just so boring in comparisson IMO (just making it clear that this is opinion, not fact)
I kid really, I just prefer how paced Magic is and how well designed it is. With YGO, nothing is keyworded, and the text-box is stupidly small. I can watch a game of Magic and figure out what's happening because the rules text is nice and big, the text box takes up half of the card, and effect/abilities are often keyworded. I also think that the game plays at a much better pace. YGO seems to have so many things going on in a turn at stupid speed (I know how Synchro summons work, but how do their opponents know what's going on at the speed they play?). Magic has the mana curve, so a game can't start getting too stupid unless they're running a stupidly fast deck (like I do), and with the way sets rotate Wizards can change how fast a format is played (Standard, which uses the most recent blocks and core set(s) is currently being slowed down so that games become more involving). Overall, I think that Magic has a much better design philosophy, but that's just me.

I'll be honest that me and my friends all share a hatred for CoD games and we watched clips on Black Ops and slammed it to hell but have never, nay, will never play it.

We used to play Unreal dare I say "back in the day" or during the late 90's early 2000's to sound less like a dick and we loved it. The tournements the little rivalries we built up with other teams and the like. Then we drifted away from FPS games for some reason.
Shout outs to Rawne, clearly we think exactly the same way. I have been l33tabix for a LOOOOONG time, since UT2K4 dropped in 2003. I've played all the Dooms, Quakes and UT's and used to play Wolfenstein 3D with my Grandad (who actually killed a nazi and took his iron cross in WWII) on a god damn floppy disk, and we have these pillocks dominating the gaming economy by turning trash like BlOps into the multi-plat P.O.S it is.
Yet I had some half-witted little c*hole tell me that I "ain't leet" because his mate was "in leet" on "MW2" and they were "one of the best clans" mate I facepalmed and screamed so hard. I was like, "this is why you THINK you're good at FPS, you literally have no concept of 1337 nor are you aware that the beginnings of l33t in the 80's, you probably think people who enter MLG and put it in their name are geniunely good" I let out so much steam that day I tell you.

I also do NOT suggest playing BlOps, it you were a big time MW1 player it is like being anally violated. See I HATE BlOps and I even played it till something like level 20 with a mate before deciding to never pick it up again.

Fighting games are the most competitive and complex form of gaming bar MMO's and RTS, our mate said "no i don't like button mashers" and we all tore him a new ar5eh0le and told him "It's a fighting game, you are a button masher" These days my friends and I play on Arcade Sticks so it's cool.

I have one friend who hates every single game I love, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy even Heavy Rain and L.A. Noire.

Although I also am not fond of his preferred games. Splinter Cell, Dirt, Forza and HAWX.

One of my friends doesn't like any Legend of Zelda game or Elder Scrolls game. His reasoning is that he has played one game in each(for about ten minutes) , he didn't like them, therefore EVERY one of these games ever under Legend of Zelda or Elder Scrolls that will ever exist, instantly sucks. D:<

I know people hate bronies shoehorning My Little Pony into threads, but I feel the need to bring it up on the basis that it's the TV equivalent; granted, some don't like MLP, but a large percentage of people who "hate" it are the people who haven't even given it a chance but do so due to social expectation.

Back on topic, I've only got criticism for playing Minecraft (for it's simplistic design, despite the fact that it's unbelievably fun) and for playing Dead Space 2 (due to the occasional QTE bosses and choice of cat-scare horror over atmosphere, even though it's still pretty good).
