The only game that ever had my heart racing was Condemned: Criminal Origins. What about you guys?

Surprisingly...Condemned never truly scared me. I was kind of saddened by that. Same goes for Dead Space. I used to be terrified of the Resident Evil games and Silent Hill games when I was younger, but it seems I've grown out of it. As of now, nothing really gets under my skin, but when I was younger, Resident Evil 2 did the trick for me =X

On the one hand, sometimes the imps in Doom 3 jump out and scare me. On the other hand, that just makes the chainsaw that much more satisfying.

Condemned didnt make me jump either but I think thats because I played condemned 2 first and so was like "oh look I bet a homeless crazy jumps out here".

Thief: Deadly Shadows - Shalebridge Cradle. Enough said, and always gets mentioned first by me whenever the "scary game" thread appears. That place was a nightmare!

Other than, I haven't really played many "scary" games in recent years, so nothing in particular comes to mind. I may get slightly unnerved by certain things though. Playing Fallout 3 for example when I had wandered into the Yao Gui (sp?) tunnels for a bit of an explore. Now, I had the Animal Friend perk so was able wander about at my leisure. There was just something about the sounds those bear like creatures made though that got to me. Especially when I rounded a corner and one was right there staring me in the face. Just had to put with it until I got out, as opening fire when right in the middle of a pack of them wouldn't have gone well.

Any game by EA, because I'm scared to play them. I honestly fear for my sanity.

Ravenholm the very first time, I was playing it at like 10:30 with all the lights off, yeah that was bad. Also dead space the first time through.
ALSO: resident evil 4, various times. Especially when you fight salazar's big bug gaurd guy, and he's chasing you down the tunnels.

the orginal sh game but none of the sequels. but the penumbra games (moreso overture than black plague) were probably the best scary games ive played.

The first Silent Hill is the only game than ever really scared me (and it scared the crap out of me!) But I'm not one that really scares easily at games or movies.

Having said that though, the bit with the department store dummys in the first Condemned was quite unnerving.

I'm not usually scared by games and have never been scared by condemned, but to this day, I cannot play through and finish resident evil one. The furthest I've ever been is that yellow room with the dogs breaking through the windows near the beginning.

I found Ravenholm to be pretty depressing but not really that scary. RE 4 had about one scary part (it was in a little torturing chamber/prison with a bodypart-regenerating monster in it), but I'd have to stick with Silent Hill 1 and 3. Recently, only Condemned got me scared (haven't played the sequel a lot yet), but it all depends a lot on the circumstances you play the game (light, people coming in and out the room etc.)

I would have to say the following games scared me pretty good:

Condemned: Criminal Origins (not number 2 though)
Silent Hill 1-3 (haven't played 4)
Alien Trilogy (this game more or less scarred me as a child, I still love it in a twisted way)
Alone in the Dark: the new nightmare (one of the best survival horrors I have ever played)
The Suffering (I played this on my own, in the dark, during a storm with no-one else in the house when I was 15...I proverbially shit myself)
