I can't believe nobody has said it yet.

I would have Cthulu guard my house. He'd have his own little Cthulu Aquarium and if anyone breaks into my house there only hope will be to hit him with a boat.

I would also take anyone possessed by the necronomicon as an alternative,

Yeah but... you know what this is silly. We are getting drawn in to a debate about the moot point of fictional creatures. Any success achieved is just fictional success, not real progress.
