I'm getting a bit fed up with all the forum topics over the last few weeks about losing faith in humanity as a whole. So, this is a place to put down humanity's greatest accomplishments, and why you think that humans are awesome. Some's got to be positive.

I'll say this - We've been to the Moon. I mean, WE'VE BEEN TO THE MOON! Ever thought about how incredible and awesome that is?

Post away.

Seeing kids of all kinds of different race or religions getting along together happily in acceptance.
It sort of gives me hope for the future.
Unless someone or some people decide to brainwash them with prejudice views.

1) The fact that so far we are the most advanced species in the universe and have yet to be surpassed by any other. This is why I don't understand why people say humanity sucks. Okay, we suck... compared to what, exactly?

2) What kind of idiot/asshole would give up on his own species, especially without a more favorable alternative to choose from? It makes no sense!

3) All the good things people do. I list this as third only because it's what everyone will say.

My woman and those like her. She's been through hard times, but still embodies the Stockdale Paradox: the ability to look at one's situation in all of its grim reality while holding faith that one will succeed in the end.

There are plenty of times when I want to say screw all of them and work solely for my own benefit, but every once in a while, through the haze of insomnia and depression, there is someone that reaches out onto a ledge with no thought for themselves, their comfort, or their safety.

It gives that dangerous bit of hope that allows me to wake up and keep trying.

What I don't understand is why I should have 'faith' in humanity. Faith to do what? Faith to become what? Sure, humanity as a species did some neat things. But at the end of the line were still a bunch of mammals on an insignificant speck of rock.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a misanthropist. I like humanity, I like being human, I like my fellow humans. But why should I have 'faith' in something that has no objective goal to begin with? I could have faith that humanity will find a way to live in peace and harmony or I could have faith that humanity will continue to do its utmost to kill each other. Having faith in humanity is just an plain stupid expression.

Just curious, how do you know that? The universe is a big place and we have only seen an infinitesimal part of it. It would be silly to assume there isn't a more advanced species in the universe.

If a simple situation occurs of asking someone for help (like directions or information) happens without any complications or extra details.

At the beginning of Dead Rising 2 where Chuck asks where the green room is, and the guy gladly tells him, and he says thanks - I felt disturbingly upbeat.

God, small miracles that effect entire communities, my friends and family.

You know, the usual...

The saying "Faith in huamnity" essentially means whether or not you think that humanity is worth it. Do you believe that we will continue to expand and grow, or do you think we'll crash and burn? If alens discovered us, would they think well of us? Dispite setbacks, we are still the only being in the KNOWN universe to have invented civilisation.

Seeing religion, superstition, and general ignorance slowly driven from our society.

Also the sweet smiles on babies' faces.

I just look outside the window or on the pictures I have of my family and friends.
Fills me with happiness.

Hence why I said "so far." Until we KNOW there is another species out there that is "better" than us, what reason do we have to shun our own species?
