In Oblivion, the brotherhood had unique, enjoyable missions, so I was looking forward to that in Skyrim. All the missions so far have just been straight up murder with no distinguishing features. I should be releasing someone's werewolf husband devour her.
In lieu of good assassinations, let's make them now.

I, personally, loved the Dark Brotherhood questline in Skyrim, and found the Oblivion questline to be rather... Lackluster. The Skyrim storyline is so beautifully demented from start to finish. I love it.

As for the actual missions and kills? Not much other than "track down your target and kill them." Aye, Oblivion had some unique ones, like dropping the mounted head and...

I'll get back to you on that one.

All together, I much prefer Skyrim's Dark Brotherhood over Oblivion's. I feel like each successive contract is actually working towards a larger goal, all of the characters in the story are likable to some degree, and...

Oh yes, the puns.

The PUNS!

EDIT: Be warned, major spoiler in the posts below me without the use of spoiler tags. Read on at your own discretion.

Well you have to understand. The Dark Brotherhood is weak now due to The Great war. FUCK THOSE FUCKING ELVES!*Rages hard and then calms down and clear his throat* sorry about that...Anyways, true the mission are as "cool" but what do you expect? We need to slowly regain our strength. Plus The whole *Spoiler* Killing the Emperor is so awesome.* Spoiler*

You have to remember that the Dark Brotherhood aren't what they once were. The war weakened them and there are not many left. Hell they don't even follow the 5 tenants anymore, many of the members admit that they've just become a bunch of cutthroats without discipline.

So far I have enjoyed the Dark Brotherhood storyline. But if I hear one more fucking pun someone is going to get seriously injured.

I loved the dark brotherhood storyline, just finished it about an hour ago. While the quests themselves may not have been utterly mindblowing, the storyline as a whole was amazing. The feeling you got when you got told you were going to kill the Emperor, or when you get into the destroyed sanctuary, or into the night mothers coffin and she talks to you and you SHIT YOURSELF

I have to agree with the poster, whilst the overall dark brotherhood quest ark is very enjoyable in skyrim, the actual missions are very boring and straightforward. In oblivion most missions were much harder if u wanted the bonus, and each had a unique twist, drop a mounted head on a person, sneak through a dungeon, use a poison to assassinate a particular person. In skyrim by contrast, with the exception of a couple of missions you just walk up to someone, bash them on the head and walk on...it doesn't feel like sneaky assassination, more like...well straight up murder. It seems hard to argue that the kills you make in skyrim could be denied or seen as subtle.

I don't know about you guys, but when I was told I had to crawl into the Night Mother's coffin...First, I reeled back in my chair - I played Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood, and I felt like I was doing something very, very rude...Second, when you SEE her body (GUUAAAAHHHH!!!!!) and then she SPEAKS to you, talking about how you're keeping her old bones warm...

sdkjfsdkljfsdlk;fsdflkjsdflkdj GET IT OFF ME!

And being able to Summon LUCIEN?? That was just...that made my Skyrim. I loved Lucien.

That and watching Shadowmere emerge in all his demonic glory from the pool. <3

OT: I forgot to say that this Brotherhood quest line actually made me feel like a killer. Or at least like an evil fellow. I love how Bethesda made the characters this time around, as I did when they were in Oblivion. I also love how they mention Cheydinhal...

I felt a little odd helping to spread the Love of Mara across the land right after a Brotherhood contract.

I'm in agreements with K4rma, the story so far is great but...the missions are a pretty straight forward and easy. I'm on the Gourmet quest and was hoping things would get a little more complex but apparently not...

By the way K4rma, I never asked for your pony...

This is the dark fucking brotherhood. You bow to the night mother or you get an arrow stuck in your head.

At least that how its going to be when I take over.
*Cough* Sithis */cough*

I happened to stumble upon their sanctuary on the bitter north coast, but haven't done their quest line yet. Ah, something to look forward to on a Friday night: whiskey, and assassinations.

Welcome to the spoiler-a-thon.
I'm enjoying it so far, haven't quite finished it yet, but it seems more like you're killing people for actual REASONS, rather than not knowing the reason for the murders after all, like in oblivion. Plus it makes you feel a bit more pycotic. Which is always fun.

Nah, you bow first and foremost to the night mother. Shes the one that gives the damn orders.
And depending on who you ask, Sithis is either an embodiment of the nothingness that is the void, or the creator of all life in Nirn. Screw the night mother, this dude/thing/concept is the boss of all creation! The Night Mother is just a figure head, like the Queen.

Maybe, but I cant remember ever actually meeting or communicating with Sithis in my Elder Scrolls career. So its pretty hard to name him/her/it the leader of your guild, dont you think?
Well, isn't it part of the Queen's duty to "appoint" a prime minister, despite having no real political power. It's pretty much the same here.
As for never meeting Sithis, I like to think he's too busy devouring the souls of mortals, and/or toying with the Daedra as the pawns that they are. What can I say, Sithis is boss as fuck!

I'll agree that the quests themselves seemed a little dull (Except the chef bit.. "THE NEXT INGRIDIENT IS A GIANT TOE!") but the story and dialogue is awesome, and who doesnt love a mad jester?

As for highlights in Oblivion:
The one quest where you're locked in a house and have to kill all the nobles, god that was a masterpiece
