Been there. Not a good time. I recall being in Heroic whatever it is for that awesome epic tank sword (you know the one...) and the healer pally rolled and won it. S.O.B. That was the first time I saw it drop in like 6 or 7 tries.
Ya I know which one your talking about...I saw it drop a couple of times as well and watched everyone roll on it cause it was BOE...so to the AH it went. Oh well.
I've had similar but I think it was a different sword, I tank the entire instance perfectly (as always) and at the end the sword drops, now i've been doing this place dozens of times and im so happy when it finally drops but a warrior DPS rolls on it and wins.

I ask why, he responds 'My off-spec is tank'.

As you may have guessed, I called him an utter wanker.

been awhile since i played wow at all but an off spec tank paladin? *facepalm*

My story was just when the game launched hence i felt it relevant to the discussions, this stuff has been going on since the game went live and it just got worse as the game got more popular. And it gets exponentially worse when blizzard has their semi annual broken OP class that every said wanker gravatates to so they can pwn face till blizzard nerfs them a year or 2 later.

All my horrid pally stories were at launch when pallys were godly. When i quit for a long time i could probably dig up a good number stories about rogues since they were the OP lot when i came back to the game.

Blizzard does the OP thing on purpose I think...like my first toon was a warlock...couldnt' get into raids and was always behind the other dps classes. Then out of nowhere locks were like the best out there. So from the BC patch onward the locks were making fun of the mages for once and no one would even think about messing with them...then all the sudden druids became so overpowered that they completely obsoleted warriors. But the biggest buff by far was to the dps pally...when they released that patch I watched lvl 63 pally's ganking lvl 80's. It had to be the most annoying buff to a toon I have ever seen.

So just because you don't know how to deal with people the gaming community is ruined? When I played I was either helped by fellow players or they were competing with me making it funner. As for the vent thing that has never happened because my guild usually wasn't cheap about communication and got a private one. Raids are usually comprised of your guild and so that problems gone. Hell I even was helped by higher level enemy players during some of my quests on a PvP server. Grow up and stop complaining.

I don't even begin to have any of the problems you listed. Maybe it's because i'm on an RP server, so the rp community is pretty tight knit as planning things like server and guild events and storylines requires more teamwork than on other servers.

We don't let strangers run with us, we don't let unfriendly people into the guild, it's worked pretty well for us. At the very least, the problem isn't that the community sucks, it's that your group isn't being picky enough with who you allow to join you.

Paragraphs.... they are your friend.
First of all, this, you're footing the bill for my eye surgery now cause of your wall of text :p

Jk, anyway, as said above, the game changed from being aimed at dedicated players to being aimed at the majority, which in WoW's case is the casual playerbase. It might seem like a good thing, but it really isn't.

People always aim for or just below what the final mark is, "the greatest reward for the smallest amount of effort". When you name the final mark something the majority already is, they have nothing to strive for and therefore nothing to work for.

Whereas before you would have to be a half decent person and a skilled player to get into a raid (and I say raid because apart from the Arena, that's the only thing that's still twitching and refusing to die in WoW), nowadays, since everyone is "eligible" without any real effort, people feel like they have a right to be arses and a right to be crap at whatever it is they're supposed to be doing - because the game doesn't set any further expectations on the player.

As for trade morons... well, that's the price of the large playerbase, all you're really noticing is a huge minority of people, but you're noticing them anyway cause you don't understand why anyone would act that way in the first place, let alone several people. But when you compare the amount of morons you saw to the amount of people on your server, you'll understand how much of a minority they really are.

So you assume that I don't know how to deal with people? Ok that's cool. I guess I'll just follow your advice to make the game "funner."

Listen bud, all I was doing was stating experiences in the game. I've seen new guys in the game that have never played asking for advice in chat and getting ridiculed for a simple question. I'm not a slob when it comes to WoW. I quit the game 7 months ago and am still competively geared on my druid and on my DK. I lead my own guild and we were picky about who we brought in, which is why it was hard to find 25 raiders that can all get together at the same time.

Telling me to grow up and stop complaining really isn't a grown up answer. Well, that and calling things "funner," doesn't convince me that your are much of a grown up either tiger. Bottom line is that the game is fun but assholes are ruining the game because of they way they act towards the other players.

Ya if I ever do come back to teh game it will probably be on an rppvp server. I went on an RP server one time just to see what it was like, and to see if people really did act out the game in character. In the game once I got to org I noticed that people didn't talk in character which was a plus cuase I don't think I have enough testicular fortitude to act out in that way. But the other thing I noticed was people were helpful in there and it was a great change from the other servers. So props to you RP guys for keeping the game fun, and not acting like you want to be virgins forever by greeting me with some shit like "Greeting and blessings of Elune be upon you Human!"

Look, I understand your point, but I'm not sure if you can make it without being a gigantic tool. Rping is a fun activity I share with my -wife-, and before you ask, no, not in that way. Almost everyone I know that rpers either has a wife or girlfriend, and most of them share the hobby.

It's an easy and not very time consuming outlet for creative writing and acting. That's what rp is, it's not a nerds fantasy of being their character.

I'll list because I don't wanna put too much effort into this.
-Scheduled raids remove the finding people problem
-I've seen people ask simple questions and get told the answer without being chastised
-It's a game so it's supposed to be fun you could just pick out all the flaws of playing with others or enjoy the game and help others enjoy it

Back when I started to play WoW I started cause a lot of buddies played it. I enjoyed playing the game very much because of the social aspect of it. Everyone was helpful and your faction always seemed to have your back. However over time, I noticed the game was filled with nothing but racists and assholes. Once they brought in the ability to talk to all players within the realm that were in the big cities everything went to hell. No longer could you ask a simple question without getting some smart ass answer from some punk ass kid or overly immature adult. Questions like "Where is the auction house located?" would get you flamed for being a lazy bum who needs to google it. People made it a point to cause heated arguements just cause it was the cool thing to do. Trying to offend everyone is the goal of most within the game now. Oh and you can forget about making a mistake in a put together raid. You get flamed and kicked out...or if you havn't done a boss and ask it would result in a bunch of smart ass answers and probably being kicked. Oh and don't even bother putting a raid together cause there is always one person who jumps in your vent and does nothing but scream on the mic just to be a prick...bans won't work cause they just create another profile and jump right back in. Getting 25 people together to raid without bringing in some arse is near impossible as well. No longer did skill matter as much as your gear score. And loot mattered more than the guild itself. These are the reasons that I quit playing WoW...and after attempt at a couple of more MMO's I found the same bullshit. Are you guys experiencing the same thing? I ask in here becasue so far the mindset of this place seems to be a little more mature with less trolls.
Man you are right, I saw a lot of my friends go through the same bullshit. "Whats your gear score, whats your gear score" thats all they cared for when you were 80. it got really annoying.
