Have you, my fellow Escapists, ever though what happened to our consience when we die?

Will it disapear? But how will we notice?

Does the consiciente find a new body?

Is there really heaven or hell? How could so many people fit in there?

Does our consience run around on spectator mode?

I think the consience finds a new body.

Share your thoughts on death, as I'd like to know how you picture it.

I believe we are born again, either as a Human or an animal. We might not even be reborn on Earth, but another planet in the Universe as a member of a completely different species.

But I really don't know. I'm not religious, so that belief isn't forced upon me.

nothing.. because you'll be dead. Good thing is that you won't care either at that point because ehm.. you'll be dead.

You die, your body ceases to function, and that's it. It's a good thing your consciousness doesn't persist after death, because it would be painfully boring.

I have no idea. I've been an atheist all my life and quite an arrogant outspoken one, too. Not so much any more because I now have Christian friends. But anyway I've always wondered what was beyond death. Heaven always seemed completely ridiculous to me but I always wondered about reincarnation

Yeah this. It's what I'd most like to believe. But if there's nothing after death then there's nothing to worry about because once we're dead we can't worry, if that makes any sense

I have no clue, I sometimes get so curious I start to think about suicide, so I'm leaving this thread now, although, reincarnation would be cool.

You die. Followed, if buried, by rotting.

Your, or my, "conscience" (that is how you spell it but it is the wrong word, you mean consciousness) would simply cease. So, you wouldn't notice or care that you're dead.

nothing happens you just cease to exist.
But what happens if we cease to exist? Has our life only been some miserable 70 years, just to die and never be reborn?

It either dies with you, or it goes somewhere else where it can't or won't come back from.

Either way, all the more reason to live a full life.

unless your life is extremely miserable, what's wrong with getting a shot at existing? also even if you where reborn you do not remember anything of your previous life so what is the point in that? just try to enjoy the time you have, experience what you can and leave good memories with those who out live you.

70 years? i thought medical science took us further than that. And yeah that's what i believe anyway, i don't believe in reincarnations or heavens and hells.

You just rendered my argument invalid! XD

Now that you speak of death like that, I agree with you. We should all be able to enjoy our life as it is, leaving good memories behind.
Hmm... I feel much better about death now. Thanks for the post.

1. Everything carries on and 2. yes, but only if your life has been miserable; if you have had a fun 67 years and then die you'll still get nothing, but it would have been fun.

Fun fact, existence isn't about you or me or my neighbour Heather, it isn't about anything. It just is.

Safety blanket this acknowledgement is not, but it makes me more respectful of my life and that of others.
