£80 on an (cheapish) Arcade Stick and Joystick mod

PC for £850

Std edition imported region free 360 shmups for £60-£65 (With the $-yen Japanese games can be over $100) (I don't regret it btw)

And this is without getting stung with import duties. (UK its 20% VAT plus a surcharge)

If you think thats bad, it's nothing compared to brand new genuine arcade Print Circuit Boards, we are talking £1500/$2600 without the costs of importing or a 3rd party buying and shipping it to you.

THATS $2600+ FOR ONE GAME! you would have to be like something a great deal to spend that kind of money. (I don't)

http://www.destructoid.com/pay-2600-for-your-own-akai-katana-shin-arcade-cabinet-198593.phtml

Thats just the PCB, special arcade games which needs more specialised cabinets like Darius Burst Arc are way more. (If you ever walk into an arcade and see one of those beasts you are a very lucky person)

93$ for Turok Evolution on ps2... Never bought a game at full price (100$ is full price in Denmark) since, these days an outragous purchase is when i buy a game for 35$.

But obviously i´ve spent a bit more buying my ps3, that would probably be the most expensive thing i´ve ever bought. Around 600 bucks. Cheapest system was my wii, 33 bucks for a wii with 2 games.

For a game? The inFamous 2 Hero Edition. Worth every penny. I fucking loved that game.
My laptop which is my main gaming platform now was about $1,000 to build, so I guess that's the most expensive thing I've bought in relation to gaming as a whole.

<spoiler=Skyrim Collectors Edition>http://www.justpushstart.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/skyrim-ce-3dimage-xbox3603-367x300.jpg

WoW would technically be #1 because of a couple years worth of monthly subscriptions, as well as expansions, but Skyrim is my greatest single purchase.

I've never bought a PC just for games, so I'll have to go with my PS3. Don't know exactly how expensive it was when I bought it. I think about ?300-350. Or my TV, which I use pretty much exclusively for gaming in the same price range.

Non-console, it'll probably some Collector's Edition or other at about ?100.

Well, I live in Australia where everything costs twice as much as it should.

My biggest spend was probably end of last year when I got the EB Games exclusive Skyrim edition, the Battlefield 3 Physical Warfare edition and some MS Points.
Over $300 in one transaction.

I would have to say the new PC that I bought from a friend of mine. It cost me about $1500.00. It is a really excellent computer.

My PC, $950. Technically 1000 even if you count my GPU upgrade. Thankfully it's multi purpose!

Doubt I've paid more than 600SEK(which is... $75 or something, fuck if I know) on a game. Don't know about computers, though I don't think I've gone beyond 7000SEK for one. I always buy crappy ones.

Mjeh, I'll just nominate my PS3 instead. 3150SEK on sale. Several years after it was released.
Wish I knew about the UKs cheap prices back then. Could probably have saved 1000SEK.

My current computer, which combining with everything I've purchased for it (a DVD drive, speakers, and monitor; the latter two because it was cheaper to get them elsewhere and the first because I made a derp when ordering) has cost over $1000 (CAD). Money well spent!

I CAN PLAY ASSASSINS' CREED WITHOUT HAVING TO PRETEND IT TAKES PLACE IN AN ALTERNATE DIMENSION WHERE THE AIR HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH MOLLASES.

That there makes it all worth while.
Also, being able to play games full screen.

Lair.

I spent 800 dollars on that game.

Granted, 750ish of it was capable of being used for other games int he future... but that wasn't its original intent.

I spent almost 4k on a laptop about 10 years ago. It was great for about 2 years, then the warranty expired and it caught on fire. Literally.

Definitely my PC. around $900 AUD back when I got it (including the case, which I didn't end up using coz of size restraints). All I've upgraded in that time has been the OS (Vista to 7) and adding another 2gig of RAM into it, which cost like 20 bucks.

So yeah, I've still got my six year old PC which could run Crysis at full specs and continues to baffle me to the day.
ON a related note, y'know what's surprisingly low in PC demand? Warhammer 40K: Space Marine. Hah, who knew?

$2800 for a premium Alienware computer. I'm still using the case, but have since gutted-and-filled it about four times for $400-$600 each.

If only I knew how to build my own at the time.

I bought a GTX580 about two weeks before the GTX570 was released, with almost the same performance, for $200 less. Bugger.

Around $1800 for my pc. I'd say I got it for Uni but, while that is true, I could have gone with a few hundred for that...sooo I think that's a gaming expense :p

an 800 dollar laptop...
for some reason it has 8 cores :p am I the only one who thinks that's a lot? And even though I use this for gaming it's not good for serious gaming, it only has an intel graphics card

so yeah... nothing too 'hardcore' :p
