It works, sort of. The thing is if you use it to cross a body of water(which is its only real application) and you miss your rhythm half way through, you sink like a rock. Then you are stranded in the middle of a lake carrying this awkward weather vane needing to swim back. I personally think it would be great exercise and I would want one if I lived near a body of water (that didn't have sharks in it) and was actually a reliable means of transport.
