Long story short. My girlfriend, with no previous driving experience, took my car, without my permission, for a spin around the parking lot of my apartment building and parked it without killing anybody or damaging anything.

I was impressed, extremely pissed off, but still impressed. I knew she was slightly addicted to racing games (I have about 20 racing games and simulators because of her) and says she learned clutch control from playing with my G25.

So what have you learned from gaming?
- I've learned how cars work from playing Gran Turismo for 10 years.
- I know much of WWII through countless games of that era.
- Basic crime scene investigation from CSI type games.
- Drifting techniques

And probably a lot of other that I can't think of right now.

PS. My girlfriend is banned from touching my car keys. Forever.

EDIT: What have you learned that you do/could actually use IRL. Like how to drive, how to handle a weapon, how to sneak, assassinate, etc, etc.

I learned that a wolf can be carrying a large gun, suit of armor and a battle axe from playing world of warcraft :D

And when the hero uses a gun it becomes 10x more powerful than when the enemy was using it :\

I've become a bit more neurotic and OCD because of games. My obsessive reloading of guns and saving in RPGs has spilled over into the real world somewhat. And when I say obsessive when it comes to reloading, I mean reloading an M249 because I've fired one shot obsessive.

Wild Animals ALWAYS contain freaky loot.

Sometimes rabbits are actually holding objects bigger then the rabbits themselves by 5 fold.

That and in real war, all soldiers are extreme diebetics and bullets are raspberry jam that can be slowly wiped off. If you get too much raspberry jam you die due to sugar over dose.

Oh my! The army should screen for that stuff!

I do that Reloading thing ALL the time.

I lecture my fellow gamers when they don't constantly reload. Sometimes you don't wanna be in the middle of something with your thumb up your arse. I've learned that the hard way.

Saving not so much, I just avoid the whole dieing thing and I'm good.

Games taught me that if a conversation doesn't go the way you want it to go, quick loading to a point before the conversation started usually fixes it.

That if someone smacks you upside the head while you are pouring gasoline, the gravity will reverse and the gas will leap out of the tank and back into the can.

Also, acid can cause stuff to combust.

I've learned that:

- If i get shot all i need to do is crouch down for a bit and i'll be fine in a bout 10 seconds
- Gravity is relative
- Not to fuck with anything alien/medical for fear of zombies resulting
- Americans apparently did everything in history
- Hiding in a box can effectively conceal you from terrorists
- In the future we are pretty much unanimously fucked

pretty sure she has some ways of making you give up your keys...

OP
Games have taught me that no matter how many times you get knocked down you just have to hit that analog stick and get right back up on your feet.

There are few things in life I covet more than my girlfriend. Them being my car... and bacon.

OT: The MGS series also taught me how to sneak really well. I can literally sneak up on my (very alert and hyper active) cats now.

More or less my entire English vocabulary. Never even had to pay attention at the few English classes I went to and still scored nigh on full points in my final exam.

For my first essay, which was basically just for practice, I wrote the entire essay in ye olde English. The second, which was the "real deal", I wrote in rhymes. Teacher asked me on graduation day what sort of books I read, imagine her suprise when I said the last book I read was 8 years ago, in Swedish, and meant for kids.

But otherwise, I've gotten quite a few life lessons for games, as stupid as that may sound. I've found a lot of inspiration from them aswell.
