Well, the most famous piece of vapourware may finally become software. Having been in production since 1997, a lot of the world has changed. Most of you would be familiar with The Duke Nukem Forever List, a description of things that took less time than DNF (http://duke.a-13.net/). I ask you fellow escapists, what things have happened in YOUR life since DNF went into production.

Myself: Start and finish high school, then a medical degree. Yes, they could have completed an entire high school and medical education in that time. Also start and finish puberty, start dating, get busy, get jaded.. but hell, you can do that in a year.

Graduate from primary school, start and finish high school, and do 3 years of a medical degree. I'm sure lots of other things too but that's the main part of it.

I've litteraly gone from Kindergarden to High-school (It's called "Gymnasiet" in swedish, and it's not exactly the same thing as high-school). I was 3 when it began development. I'm 16 now.

Started and finished both Primary and High School roughly, made and lost friends, discovered Duke Nukem Forever and stopped caring (addmitedly at the same time), and pretty much most significant thigns in my life as I was maybe 3 or 4 at the time.

I'm born in 1994. I had no idea what the heck was Duke Nukem when I was a child.

Started and finished compulsory education. Started martial arts, earned a black belt, eventually quit martial arts.

On a side note; I only just noticed DNF stood for Duke Nukem Forever as well as 'did not finish'. Well ain't that a mighty strange coincidence? I'm late on that aren't I?

I turned 2 in August of 1997 so obviously quite a lot. So walk, talk, get up to grade 10 and lots more.

Umm, I went through school.

That's already enough, in my opinion.
I think I was four when the damn thing started production.

Since April 28, 1997:

- Got married and divorced.
- Explored three different career arcs: Freelance writing, professional gambling, and banking/finance. Working on a fourth---media production (writing, producing, and acting a radio podcast that goes live next month.)
- Earned over $250,000 working (and yes, that is pretty pathetic given the 13-year time frame.)
- Went from having an aging SNES to buying a PlayStation, PS2, GBA, DS, and four different gaming PCs.
- Watched six Boston sports championships (three for the Patriots, two for the Sox, one for the Celtics.)
- Lived in 7 different apartments with a total of 9 different roommates or live-in girlfriends (including my ex-wife).
- Changed my all-time favorite game exactly twice (once in 1999, from Final Fantasy VI to Alpha Centauri, then again in 2004 from SMAC to Rome: Total War.)
- Saw my little brother go from a high school senior to a vice-president at his company with a wife and a 2-year-old son. Watched my mom go from a vibrant young woman in her early forties to a gray-haired fiftysomething. Surprisingly and luckily, nobody I love or care about has died since then; I thank the gods every day for that fact. A couple of people I knew on a more distant level passed away (9/11 saw to that), but nobody I was so close to that I'd cry at the funeral.
- I was 19 on April 28, 1997. I'm 33 now. There's a lot more I could mention here but you get the idea.

My little sister was born
finished primary school
went to high school
finished high school with 12 A+ to C GCSEs
went to college to study forensic science
My little sister thought it would be funny to wake me up with my combat knife in her hand (shes evil btw)
finished course with a diploma in forensic science
Started university nanotechnology course
now in second year of university

Just turned 19 4 days ago

I hope that DNF can encompass the same sort of time span

I watched my brother play duke nukem when I was a Kid, then I discovered halo and didn't think about it until seeing this thread.
But in the development time for DNF my live has proceeded from 4 to 16 with the completion of my first major state exam, 'adventures' with women, first drink, first shot and being surprisingly more mature than most of my peers and a whole load of other events.

Let's see... finished kindergarten, middle school, had a psychological crisis, gotten through high school, had my first kiss, drink etc., started university, decided I wanted to be a teacher and has studied accordingly for three years. I've also had the time to turn both 10 and 20.

That plus pretty much everything life as a teenager has to offer, as well as the early twenties.
